Thanks so much for posting. You Rock! Congratulations.
-
Congratulations. You are an inspiration to so many!
When I read your post it reminded my of a wonderful book I just finished. (Actually, I read both of her books. Donna Deegan is a news anchor from Jacksonville, FL and wrote 2 books. The Good Fight and also Through Rose Colored Glasses. She is a 3 time survivor and her books are inspirational. She has successfully planned and completed a marathon with the help of Mayo Clinic that is only for breast cancer research and to help people dealing with bc. I think they raised over $600,000. You can Google her and read about it. She is very young like you!
You go girl!

WooooHOOOOO! That is awesome, congratulations! Hope you have at least another 5, 10 or better yet never a recurrence! This is truly inspiring!
Question: when do you start counting, after surgery?
-
Thanks girls! Susie, I was counting from my dx day - that is the day I became a survivor...my Onc counts from the date of last chemo, which for me will be July 7, 2010.
Happy Holidays everyone! Best of health to all of you in the new year!
-
That is so encouraging to read. Have finished 6mnths of chemo, surgery 4 weeks ago and about to start radiotherapy. Upgraded to a 3 with 11/16nodes positive. Had a bad day yesterday and feel so much better now for coming onto this site. THANK YOU SO MUCH. X
-
anamcara - sorry you have had to come here, but glad you have found us. Stick around, you will find amazing support and friendship here.
-
Ana...this is a great group of women....glad you found us here, but sorry that you had to join the sisterhood.
I count from Dx date...never asked onc what he uses to count....guess that doesn't really matter...when I was first Dx and went to the local Komen office for something, they said you are a survivor from the moment you hear the words "you have BC"....
Hugs to all....Karen

It's so wonderful to have a 5 year celebration on the Stage 3 boards...actually on any of the boards.
Ana, we're all in this together and that's a very good thing given the hand we've been dealt. Hope you do well with rads...it was the easiest part for me.

Way to go Kim, congrats. Celebrate!
-
Congrats Kim! I still remember those photos of you in your cute little head scarf. You were one of the first women I really noticed on this site.I'm just a few months behind you. Wahoo.Annaanne
-
congratulations!!!
-
Thank you for the congrats! Annaanne, I totally remember you, too! I kept my scarves "just in case" but am always thinking positively that I will never need them! MaryAnne, thanks and good to see you with your boxing gloves still on! Hey Karen and Kerry!
anamcara - these girls are the best at giving support and loads of valuable information. I am by far not the only 5 year survivor at stage III and still ned. There are lots of us. and you will be one, too! Give it your all and fight the beast! You can do it! Kim
-
Thank you Kim...& congratz..

I so appreciate all those ladies who come back to post about their anniversaries.
I just hit the wall this week, could be chemo or maybe seasonal affective disorder or just overwhelmed. I can't stop crying for no specific reason. I'm having a hard time dealing with leaving my kids for over a month so I can have rads. They are coming with me for part of it, but it didn't seem right for them to miss over 2 weeks of school.
I know I'll keep my scarves, but did anyone else keep their port "just in cause". I had "failure of conscious sedation" when it was implanted and I'm not anxious to repeat that experience.
-
Congratulations!!! that's something to celebrate!
Next week will be my 1 year---can't believe it has been that long---where does time fly (when you're having fun????)
I would especially like to say THANK YOU for sharing your anniversary with us all---you really made my day!
-
thank you for sharing your news. it does give me hope. CONGRATS.
-
Kim, Congrats, I am sooo happy for you ((hugs))! Lauren
