Back home, phew I'm exhausted!! LOL! Seriously, had a lovely night away, stayed in a lovely hotel and went to a Second City Comedy show. Excellent just to relax and enjoy ourselves.
Going to head out in a bit for a good long walk with the dog. Poor thing was in the kennels overnight, she feels a bit neglected!
-
Mary - thanks - there are days I feel so much older than I am and other days I feel like myself. I know it takes time and I'll eventually get there - I'm just so incredibly inpatient.
The cold/freezing weather we had last week really did a number on our gardens. So...... today before the Vikings/Cowboys game DH and I went out into the yard and cleaned up all of the dead plants in the yard - I found muscles I forgot I had -whew......... The yard looks much better now and if we have anymore of that crazy freezing weather there won't be anything left to kill.
Kerry - Sounds like a great time!!! I love comedy shows.
-
1/2 hour today...hoping for more...but enjoying my red wine, so this might be it.
-
Did my 30 minutes this morning. So weird that it is so warm out, feels like March....not complaining though!!
Happy Birthday to Kim!
-
Awww - Thanks Kerry!!!
Glad you had a great workout during your overnight stay at the hotel!!! LOL!!!! How is Emily feeling? I hope she is over the flu bug.
I just got back from the gym. Got in another 1 hour workout - tomorrow I start working with a trainer so we'll see how that goes!
-
Kim, I am so impressed. A 1 hour workout to kick start your birthday! hope the trainer gets you sweating.
Emily is better I think, thanks. Still got a cold, but her fever has gone. She is off at school anyhow.
-
Kim - Happy Birthday.
Kerry - Glad Emily is doing better
I made it out again today for a 30 minute walk with the dogs. Now I'm getting ready to go shopping with my daughter. She is taking a 7 day trip to D.C. with her school and we're told they spend a lot of time walking outside. We just don't have the warm clothing needed for cold, snowy wet days. Although we have what we consider warm clothing it doesn't hold up to that kind of weather. So............. we're off to see what we can find. I know she'll need thicker socks, underclothing for layering and we may look into a different coat. She has boots, but I think they're more for looks than warmth - ugh!
Hope everyone has a great day.
-
I just got my clearance to step up my exercise routine after my recon. I still walked twice a week for two hour but not enough to break a sweat. I'll start 30 min a day tomorrow. Thank you for doing this. I really need a swift kick in the big bootie.
-
I am so proud of all of you!!! You are taking control of your health and well being (physical and mental) by getting your 30 mins in!
I did a spin class tonight and then ran a mile! Had my hubby and 4 friends with me - a posse!
Next month my friend and I will be doing our personal trainer certification and CPR. I am hoping to be able to offer some type of exercise program to cancer survivors through the ymca once I am certified.
-
Mary, you will be perfect at it!!
-
Hatha yoga class this morning and then 1/2 walk this afternoon.
-
Mary - you will be fabulous at that. You are an extremely good motivator!
-
Got home from work after dark, but I had the motivation so I grabbed up the dogs and hit the street for 30 mintues.
-
Short walk today, only 20 minutes...we were out of milk so hubby and I walked to the grocery store to get it. but lots of walking and up and down stairs at work today....wish I had a pedometer at work!!!!
-
Karen - I live in a rather rural area so walking for milk is not an option - wish it was. One of my favorite parts of vacations is going and staying somewhere where we can walk about - villages, towns, cities - NYC is my fav and Boston a close second. We walk for miles and miles (and eat our way through the cities!)
Today is a day off for me - first in a while. I have a board meeting after work tonight. Last night I did a new spin class - 30 min spin (concentrated and tough) and 30 min resistance training. Didnt love the resistance training part because I had to do it with bands and not weights and was worried about pushing the lymphedema. I did wear a sleeve and did ok I guess. Not sure I would take the class again though.
Hope everyone is still working out and checking in - You still have 20 days left of the month and can pull off 900 mins if you concentrate - get busy!!!! What will next month be - I think we may need to start adding some running in, right Kerry? Gotta get ready for our Thriving Three 3 miler!
-
Yep, I would go for some running, as long as the streets are not too slippery. I have been doing the run on the Wii - I can tell you that although I could walk for hours, running is a whole different ball game! I would love to really get into improving that this spring/summer!
Mary - the different classes you take sound terrific.
Well, did my walk this morning, and will Wii this afternoon.
-
30 minute walk tonight....needed to drop off an Rx so walked to Walgreens. Tomorrow morning, I will walk in the mail at 7:30 after I drive carpool. Still haven't inflated my exercise ball.
Every...I also love walking cities....many years ago hubby and I were in San Fran and had that "lost" look about us...so someone asked if we needed help....we said that we were looking for some place and the people looked at us incredulously (sp) as we had walked from the Wharf...don't know how many miles...love to take in different neighborhoods.
-
I have a cold and infection in my radiated breast from the surgery and I feel like crapola but I'm still going on my two hour river walk in the morning.
-
Renee - don't push too hard, this is supposed to feel good! Especially be careful when you have an active infection
-
Don't remember if I already posted today, but 40 minute walk this morning.
-
I do this walk twice a week and it was my savings grace through chemo. I only missed 3 days. I remember my calves burring so bad that I didn't think I could finish but I felt so much better afterward.
Keep it up ladies.
-
Just completed 45 minute walk which has some good ups and downs that do in the legs.
-
Alyson - how did your check-up go yesterday?
Did my 30 minutes this morning. Glad it is Friday!!
-
Going to the gym this morning to meet the personal trainer and see what kind of workout program they did up for me. This should be interesting! I'll post later!
-
Have fun Kim - that personal trainer ain't got nothin on me - you can handle her!!!
Did a KILLER 60 min spin class last night - oh dear! Leaving for FLA this afternoon - no bco access so email or facebook me with your adventures.
I am going to load up on hugs and kisses from my Fla family - I miss them so much! And a little sun and beach will be great too!
HUGS!
ps - no slacking while I am gone - there are only 8 days left of the month!
-
Ahhhh, the beach! Have a fantastic time Mary!!
-
Have fun Mary!!
-
Just walked the dogs for 30 minutes and will be doing housework.
-
Hi, I haven't been posting but except for the first week I have been exercising, mostly walking. This week has been all on a treadmill.
It rained all week; we got more rain this week than we had all of last year.
It is sunny today and if the wind doesn't pick up I'll go for a bike ride when I get off work.

Busy day yesterday with small grandaughter. Managed to do our walk. DH is walking as well after his heart op. Will go for a longer walk today.
Mammo went fine, I was really uptight about it beforehand. At least the radiologist shows you the results straightaway so there is no waiting. BS is delighted with things.Have done my blood tests but as usual it took time to find a vein and Tuesday I go to the onc clinic.
Have a good weekend everyone
Alyson
