    I had right breast removed in august for high grade dcis with comedo necrosis.  Now I have to have a biopsy for two 'masses' which are solid on my thyroid.  I was wondering of anyone has had this happen to them and can I get two different cancers.  I mean I am so upset that I could possibly have another type of cancer.  What next?  Well any information anyone can give will be greatly appreciated.

    I haven't experienced this personally, but I know there have been several on the Komen message boards that have dealt with both.  In one of the most recent scares, the biopsy for the thyroid came back benign, so that is what I will hope for you.  I do know some of the ladies that have posted about the thyroid cancer have been very positive and stated that the treatment for their thyroid cancer was fairly easy compared to their bc.  In a couple of cases, the thyroid cancer came first and the ladies posting were survivors of many years, so like breast cancer, it is not a death sentence.  You will be in my prayers.

    Please go to our rather long thread here about thyroid and breast cancer and iodine. Also check out naturalthyroidchoices and breastcancerchoices. Do not let them take out your thyroid until you have read everything other survivors have to say about it. Those of us taking iodine swear by it.

    My next door neighbour is a 15 year thyroid cancer survivor and an 8 year breast cancer survivor.  I don't know what kind of BC.

    i had the same thing happen to me and when they did the biopsy on my thyroid is was b9

    keep the faith you will have the same result

    I am in Boston, and in meeting with my genetic counselor, I learned that there is study going on now - I believe it concerns the P10 gene, linking thyroid, uterine, and breast cancer. I am meeting with the geneticist  this week to see if I am a candidate for the study, as my grandmother had thyroid, mother died of uterine, now I (had) DCIS, prior to BMX.  Definitely an interesting correlation... Has anyone else heard of this?

    Hi

    Just thought I'd put my two penny in.

    I am just past four years for thyroid cancer and three months past being dx'd with bc cancer. Both my endoc and onc said there isn't a lonk between thyroid and bc cancer. However, last month I went to a support meeting and 4 out of the eight ladies in the group had eother had thyroid problems or thyroid cancer.  I have found it extremely hard to find information on these two cancers being linked.  Any help or links would be great.

    I had thryoid cancer last year and now I have DCIS grade 3, I think they are related and so does my doctors
