So Now What?

Ok, so I had u/s and a mammagram and both are all clear, no sign of anything, not even a hint of cloudiness in the mammogram so should I try to push for a punch biopsy or can I feel rest assured that this pain and discomfort is something else.  I did have my last ovary removed in August and went on a low dose hormone so I guess it could be hormonal.  This pain seems to start just below my armpit and radiate into my right breast and it is deep burning pain with occassional itching.  It is very frustrating and my pcp is thinking that it is some kind of nerve condition.  I just don't want this missed in case it is IBC but it doesn't sound like requesting a biopsy is really going to be feasible.

So based on your experiences here, in your opinion does it sound like I am barking up the wrong tree or should I still pursue a biopsy or second opinion?

I had a similar experience few months back. My right breast had a pain and discomfort.

Called my oncologist he didn't think it was related to anything but <Call your BS he tells me>

I called him late afternoon he was going for a vacation for 3 weeks, he called me late night.

To cut the story short. You are not going to have peace until you take care of this issue.

I ended up in The ER because I couldn't wait for him for 3 weeks. After all the blood work And a US turned out to be nothing. But at that time I was relaxed knowing what was going on or not going on in my breast.

    Good Luck to you

She has already had an ultrasound.  If it were me I would demand a skin punch biopsy and then you will know....Tami

Hi, I would advise you to run, not walk, to a surgeon and get a biopsy but, I would also take along an article and pics such that you could find on the IBC website.  Most general surgeons would not be familiar with this type of breast cancer and sometimes breast surgeons are not either, sad to say.  The worst that could happen is that you would feel a little silly if nothing showed in the biopsy.  Also, please note that a skin biopsy does not need to be positive to be diagnosed - it is a clinical decision.  The best outcomes for IBC come with rapid detection and treatment so, please do not wait.  Good Luck! sp

I TOTALLY agree with spettit418.   Demanding a biopsy and having it turn out not IBC, would be a good thing.

Where are you?  What State I mean?  There are IBC doctors around the country that  would be the best for making sure you don't have IBC.  Please let us know how you are.  You can call our toll free line and leave a message for me if you need more help.  1-866-944-4223

I am in Vermont, not really sure what to do because if there are no suspicious areas right now then they could biopsy the wrong area.  I just want to feel more certain that this is not cancer, but right now I am not assured yet.  Just not sure what my next step should be.

So the breast surgeon does not want to do a biopsy and feels it is not necessary.  She there was only fatty tissue showing up in the area that is bothering me and I guess that is nothing to worry about.  She said the lymph nodes looked good and felt there was no need to pursue this any further and if I was still having problem in a few months to come back and see her then.  I guess at this point I am going to give it a couple of months and see if anything changes, gets worse or better.
