Feeling less sore today, so that's good.  Except for my scalp hurts like heck...do you guys get a sore scalp, especially if you skip a day washing your hair?  I wonder if my hair is having a growth spurt or something....

Kerry:  what an awful thought, yikes!  Our basement stairs go straight down, no carpet...my son went down them in his walker when he was a baby, it was the worst day of my life (up till that point, lol)...I just missed saving him from going down, it was like watching in slow motion...half way down he left the walker, flew over all the steps, and landed flat on his back.  Probably the best scenario, since he didn't hit until he hit the bottom, not a  scratch on him!  We called him Brendini after that, lol.  One of the kids I was babysitting had moved the gate blocking the steps.Gives me the chills just remembering that.

I'm sure your appt will go great tomorrow, just know we'll be thinking of you so you don't feel so scared : )

Jaimie: don't you love finding lost items you thought were gone forever?  I always think that if we ever move, all sorts of things will turn up while packing, lol.  I too am curious what kind of flap you're getting....since you are thin, I also assumed the lat-flap.  That's what my PS recommended for me, but with the weight I've gained, I'd prefer they take it from my big ole thighs, lol.

I am getting either S-gap from the middle of my buttock or lower lumbar flap which would be from my lower back aka love handles. I have decided that I am going to keep an open mind as far as donor site preference :). I decided against lat flap immediately when I started researching the procedures. I have scoliosis and I need all of the muscles that I have in my back :). I also wanted donor scars that I could hide from most people. I just can't believe in almost 2 weeks I will be starting reconstruction again hopefully for one of the last times ;). I have to say times because it is a stage surgery and I will have at least 3 stages.

Kerry~ I wish I lived closer I would go to your appt. with you.

Michele~ I will PM you.  If you want I can show you the before and after to give you some perspective of what they can do.  (IF anyone else wants to see I would be happy to share me in my nekiness...lolll)  I think meeting you and Webbie are the highlight of my trip :)  I get in late Sunday but I would love to meet up with you on Monday (if you can).  If not we can figure out a day after my surgery but I can guarantee how I will feel.

Jaimie - thank you! I would love to have you along.

Michele - no, it is tomorrow, I just believe in stressing days ahead. Wink Why just ruin one day, eh!

Anyhow, been taking photos of Jacks cars all morning - he has a "100 day of school" collection to put together, and is doing cars. I remember doing it with Emily last year, and my hair kept falling out all over the paper! LOL!

Kerry at least you hair is staying in this year :) and looking cute might I add.

I would love to figure out how to get us to stress less about our follow up. Especially since we have years of follow up to go.

I know, I don't think it gets easier either. I wonder if they have any idea how stressed out all this makes us?  Really, if I had a happy pill I would pop one about now.

How nice that you guys will all meet, I'm jealous ; )

Jaimie:  I didn't like the idea of a lat-flap, either.  I've never heard of the lower lumbar flap.  Why is it a 3 stage surgery?  Is this trip for stage 1 only?  You have to return 2 more times?  Sorry, just curious how they work it for people who live out of town....

Kerry:  Good luck tomorrow....I'm sure it will go great!  Xanax is considered a happy pill, right?  lol, rather more of a relaxation pill, but close enough!

    Bethie it looks adorable :)

Judy~ I have to go down there at least for 3 stages.  Stage 1 is to move the donor site tissue and make my new breast, stage 2 they clean things up and make them look prettier and hopefully stage 3 is for tatoo's.  Oh and xanax is considered a happy pill :)

Hi! Please accomodate my whine tonight! My knees and hips are killing me! While on tamox I was having a lot of joint pain. After I stopped the pain eventually went away. So, I thought I would try aerobic exercise. I haven't done any since early chemo. I have tried 3 times, less length and intensity each time. For days afterward I need to take narcs for the hip/knee pain! Yesterday I walked on the treadmill for 30 minutes, hardly breaking a sweat. Today I am miserable! First my knees hurt, now its my hips too! AAGHH!

Ok, enough about me. Kerry, I know about the anxiety with follow-up appt. It will be over soon and you can relax. Jaime, I would not recommend planning on visitors right after surgery. The nurses will have you pretty drugged up. I am jealous you get to meet Web and Michele! Judy, take it easy and no more stairs!

That is so awesome that a number of you get to meet in person.  I am jealous too.

Cheryl - sorry you are sore.

Kerry - Thinking of you & your preappointment anxiety.  I seem to get after appointment anxiety.  Analyze the appt.  What did they actually mean when they said......  Drive myself crazy!!!

Kerry LOVE those words :)  When do you have to go back again ??

Done finally with my pre-op appt's.  I started this morning at 9am and I just got home.  They had a problem getting blood from my veins.  There was a whole lot of resticking and then moving the needle....   How in the hell am I going to get thru 2 IV's ???  I leave for NOLA in 12 days....  Oh the nerves...

I got a ton to look forward to besides boobies :)  We decided today that we are going to my favorite state for Easter.  So we are planning to do a lot of things in the next couple of months :)

So, whats your favourite State??? I have bad veins now after Chemo, they always have to hunt around for them. But they always seem to manage it. Ask them to use a Butterfly, I find that makes it easier.

Yep, I am pretty relieved after today. I can relax and look forward to our weekend. I see her (BS) again in July, I see my Onc next in April - on the 1st of all days. I have Zometa in March, so nothing for me until then. (hopefully!!)

My favorite state is Florida on the West coast.  My MIL lives in Sarasota and it is just lovely.  Kerry the worst part is it was a butterfly but my vein was infiltrating so only a little bit of blood was coming out.  The great part was the pleb.is normally nasty but she was sweet as can be.

Jaimie:  ah, the tattoo, I couldn't figure out the 3rd stage, lol.  I've only been to FL twice, but I much preferred the Gulf side, too...so pretty there.  We were in Clearwater.  I KNEW xanax was a happy pill, lol

Kerry: glad to hear everything went well today : )

Cheryl:  Hi!  Weird about the knee/hip pain....you're not back on tamox are you?  Some people say the coumadin gives you joint pain.  I hope it goes away soon.

Bethie:  good to see you again...I like your pic : )

I have had a boring week, no subbing jobs to be found...I guess the teachers don't take time off after being off for 2 weeks at Christmas.  Maybe it will pick up next week.

I've never been to Florida - been down to New Orleans and also Georgia, but not Florida. Still hoping to make it down to Disney at some point before the kids are too old. How nice you can stay with your MIL, we don't have any relatives living anywhere nice to visit! Well, except New Zealand, but you can't drive there.....

Judy - enjoy your time off! I am sure work will start to pick up now we are in the "depths" of winter!  Mind you, they are calling for 8 degrees or something silly next week.

OK, hope everyone has a great day.

hi! My joints feel better today. I didn't work, and that makes a difference. I can rest and pace myself. At work it's go-go-go whether my joints ache or not! Judy, I am still on coumadin, but currently not tamox. I have never heard of aching joints with coumadin.

Jaimie, I love Florida, too. My DH and I say someday we will buy a condo in the building where his parents and sister have theirs. It is on Marco Island, and it is beautiful! I'm so sorry you had a difficult time getting the IV in. I hate when I start IVs or draw blood and I have to root around for the vein! I feel so bad, I know it hurts!

Bethie, lookin' good girl! Great hearing from you!

Less than a week now until I leave for the Philippines! I will try to keep in touch while I'm there because I will have my blackberry and my computer.

Kerry, So glad to hear from you! They stopped me after 7 Taxols the neuropathy was so bad. Deferred me for 2 weeks and then switched me to Taxotere for the last 3 weeks. Not great, but better than the Taxol. I still tingle a lot and am numb, but that feeling that my feet are bound with straps is gone. I'm hoping that means progress.

First mammogram in a year was Monday. While I still need to see the surgeon with the films, no ultrasound and "free to go" I took as good news.
