Glad to hear the good news Kerry.

Thank you guys. Yep, boring is good.
-
Good news Kerry.
I ran 3 miles on the indoor track and then did planks and situps on the ball (thanks claire) and some pushups. Was going to do a body sculpting class too but it was cancelled. Really wanted to do an hour of exercise - sigh. Tomorrow is the killer spin class (the hardest of the week) and then we are going out to dinner with friends to celebrate my daughter graduating high school (she is graduating hs this week and starting college next week - 6 mons early!)
-
Im getting back on the exercise wagon tomorrow....PROMISE!
I have my 3 month check up tommorow with bloodwork, Lupron and Zometa. Once I get through all that, I'll feel like dancing...lol.
Wish me luck.
-
Hi everyone,
My regime of weights/crunches plus a 70 minute walk this evening up Queen Anne Hill by way of Trader Joes put me at 905 minutes for the month!!!
Added benefit was I bought more groceries than planned so had to lug them home (one mile down several flights of stairs).
Now, need to do the #2 of the one-two punch....the Neulasta shot. Got the walk in first. And yippie, my last AC infusion was yesterday. So just this cycle then on to Taxol in 2 weeks.
Showed my exercise log plus picture with cycling group taken Sunday to my oncologist at my appointment yesterday. He was blown away. - Claire

Kerry....uneventful....no concerns....just the way we want our visits to be....
The streets/sidewalks were better tonight for the most part tonight....but there were a few slick spots....actually slipped towards the end of my walk, but somehow I was able to stop it and did not get hurt....there are places that are still full of ice where the sun doesn't shine....hoping it will be even better tomorrow....
addes up my minutes for the month so far and if my math is correct, I am at 452 minutes.....better than I thought...lets just hope I keep this up.....
-
Lexi - thinking of you today!! Remember, its going to be "boring" for all of us......
Mary - congrats on your daughter graduating early!! Thats amazing. Is she going to College close to home??
Karen - careful on that ice, I nearly wiped out myself yesterday after leaving the Dr - I had a thought of how ironic that would be - all worried about seeing my Dr, than cracking my head on the sidewalk!!
-
Lexi I hope all goes well for you today.
Take care on the snow and ice all those who have it. Christine lol at our weather making onto your news! It could almost be Canada today where I live. We had more snow overnight and it is still snowing now. It looks very pretty but I'm glad I don't have to try driving anywhere today.
-
Thanks Kerry - she is doing her first semester at a local community college and living home. Not sure what she will do in the fall. She has a few applications out there or she may stay home for the first two years and transfer then. She is only 17 (started kindergarten young) so she is ok with being home for awhile but is very responsible, works every day, makes a car payment, etc.
-
didn't get 1/2 hour in today...only 15 mintues while out selling girl scout cookies with DD...was planning another walk tonight, but got distracted....will walk tomorrow morning early at the mall after driving carpool. no planks, sit ups, push ups or anything else....I am the best procrastinator....
-
My dd got her first acceptance letter for the fall - she only sent out two applications both to 4 yr state schools within 2 hours from home. She was so excited - things are looking good for her, I am so glad! She is starting at the local community college next week so she will have a jump start no matter where she goes in fall.
On a sad note - I had to take my nose piercing out yesterday. It got infected and I cant get it back in. I got it right after treatment and I really loved it :-( but I dont know if I should bother putting it back in since it does seem to get infected alot (though this was the first time in a while) sigh. but at least I have hair now.
I did a 60 min spin class yesterday - instructor pulled me aside after class and asked my name and told me I really "ripped it" Don't know what that even is but I assume it was good. No one at this gym knows I am a survivor - and it is kind of nice.
-
Yep, I would think "ripped it" is good! Wonderful news on your daughter too - see, it is so going to be your decade!!
-
Congratulations on the acceptance letter! It's a huge day when you know things are coming together. With all your exercising I definitely think you were ready to rip it and rip it good. I have a friend who just started teaching a spin class so I want to head over and give it a go.
-
Thanks DC - love spinnning. My tailbone is screaming but the sweat and the endurance high are well worth it. I would love to say that the pounds are falling off of me but no. I spin 3xs a week - run 2x a week and swim 2x a week and still struggle to keep my weight at 140. Cant get to 135 no matter how hard I push myself.
I am assuming that it is a cross between menapause and tamoxifen. So I keep doing my planks and keep watcching what I am eating and accept that 140 may be the new me.
Part of the problem is that with all the exercising I am hungry all the time - not sure I get enough protien in which makes me over eat junk food - sigh. I am vegetarian and am trying to give up dairy too - but I may have to back burner that so that I can eat organic greek yogurt to get my protien.
-
Mary, you may not be taking in enough calories so your body is holding on to the weight. Do you track your calories? You have high octane workouts....I'm sure you're going through a few calories
-
I would like to think that is the case. I even went back to tracking points and activity. I think part of the problem is we eat out alot so 2 slices of bread and a restaurant salad are not as diet friendly as I would like it to be. AND most vegetarian options are cheesy or pasta.
sigh.
-
Everyone is so full of energy here. Had my wheat grass powder and drinking my smoothie. (spinach, raspberry, banana, protein powder)
Mary - Have you tried adding some protein powder? I have tried almond milk with it. Not too bad. I bought blue diamond unsweetened, vanilla. (40 calories per cup) You can also use stevia sweetener to sweeten it up.
Need to keep working my lower abs. I am back to my pre cancer weight but desperately need ab work. Blame it on menopause & tamoxifen. Who can argue. But, I am determined to fight it every step of the way.
-
ooooorrrrr - the pound of hummus and pita that I ate when we went out to celebrate last night AND then my dinner :-) But I guess I feel like I should be able to eat like that since I work out so much but maybe not.
-
and now I would like a candy bar
-
I haven't been too good with the exercise - haven't gotten out since Saturday. The neuropathy pains wore me down. I spoke to the onc yesterday, he is starting me on neurontin and said that unlike a sore muscle that can be worked out by pushing a little further I needed to stop or slow down when the pain starts because it will only get worse (as I've learned) and when I feel good, walk, bike, whatever I can tolerate. I was feeling better yesterday, but gave myself a bunch of excuses. I'm going for a walk today - promise.
Mary - The Hummus sounds wonderful...........something so good can't possibly be bad
Kerry - glad to hear your appt went well or uneventful
-
35 - 40 minute walk this morning.....its a gray day out today....looks more like back east than Denver with 300 days of sunshine....want to try to walk again later this afternoon, but need to try before its dark as there are still some very icy places. Looking for a good deal on an "exercise" ball....for those who have one....do you use it (other than for a seat like my DD does with hers) and do you like it?
Every.....I love hummus.....heck....go for it and have the candy bar!!!!! When you eat out and have a salad and bread (oooh, I love nothing better than good bread and butter), do you have any protein on your salad (like nuts, tofu)...that may be part of the reason you are hungry...I know that when I don't eat adequately at a meal, I eat more junk....many of our meals are vegetarian, but I do eat chicken, fish and beef (on occasion)....lately, my lunch has been cheese and crackers....talk about not low fat!!! I've got to stop the eating junk for the sake of eating it.

I just sent an email to the "thriving threes" january contest folks - if you didnt get it and should have - let me know.
-
Ohh, yummy, now I want some Hummus....!
-
57 minutes today...two walks.... 35 this morning and 22 just now....wouldn't it be great if I could get myself to walk twice daily...or if only once daily, to increase length of walk. so glad to have this thread to keep after me!!!!
-
yah Karen! did my 30 minutes this morning. had to drag myself, as I was up half the night with Emily throwing up, but the walk actually woke me up a bit. Everything is melting up here, it feels like spring!
-
Kerry - Hope Emily is better and you are off enjoying your calorie burning weekend!
It has been warmer (relatively speaking) here - I got a 3 mile outside run in yesterday and another today with our running buddies - tomorrow is a swim day. My legs are tired!
-
didn't get to walk yesterday till after dinner, but managed 1/2 hour...today about 50 minutes. Warm here too, so hoping all the ice will so be done melting and floating to the sidewalks!!! see everyone tomorrow.
-
I know I won't make it this month - the neuropathy is slowing me down. But........ I did get in a good walk today with the dogs and will be doing some yard work in a few minutes. I started back at work two weeks ago and although it's not walking in the sense of getting my heart rate pumping I am getting a lot more movement in. Walking from the parking garage to the office (vice versa), taking the stairs several times throughout the day to the various depts I need to run to and walking from one end of the office to the other.
Hope everyone has a great Sunday.
-
Jenn3 - You have to listen to your body and do what you feel able to do. You are already doing fantastic by adding in the walks and stairs. This challenge is intended to make you change your habits and increase your daily exercise - which you are doing!
