head wear while swimming
I am planning a trip to the carribean to celebrate the end of chemo!!!! Since I generally spend a lot of time in that wonderfly warm water while vacationing, I am concerned aobut what will work best for keeping my head covered. I am not a fan of swimming caps. Does anyone have any tips/advice for keeping my head covered in the water? terry cloth wraps? floppy hats? t-shirt wraps? My fear is that those may slide off and expose my delicate head!!!!

When I was shiny headed bald, I wore those knit hats made out of t-shirt material. They come in different colors and patterns. I had one that was a little smaller so it was good for swimming laps - acted kind of like a swimming cap, but was comfy and looked better. Slather your head with sunblock (if you are bald! I shaved my head so it was pretty scared of the hot sun!)
When my hair was starting to grow a tad, I wore a cute "baseball cap" when I wasn't in the water. funny story: one day we went to an amusement park and my cap flew off when I was on the roller coaster with my kids! That was the day I learned that maybe my hair was long enough to go hatless - didn't have much choice! I did go back to scarves and hats when I got home from vacation!

Are you going on the Breast Cancer Survivor's Cruise in May, by any chance? I'm going, and I'm meeting up with at least 2 of the women on the Sept 08 chemo thread.

We went away when i was completely bald and I decided to get one of those big plastic swim caps with the flowers stuck on, the sort of thing my mother wore at the pool when I was young. It was goofy and fun.

Thanks for the ideas everyone! No, Jane, I'm not going on the cruise in May, hopefully will be back to work by March! My family is taking me to Cancun to celebrate....out of the cold and snow for a few days! Ryjuem, the knit hats made out of tshirt material sound great, since usually what I wear on my head is one of my husband's old tshirts! Where did you find those? I also have a couple of great hats to wear, just worried about the water time and burning!
