So i have been having severe burning pain in my right breast as well as itchy, not going into the whole story but i do have it in a recent post.  Anyhow I saw the breast surgeon today who did maybe a 1-2 minute super fast ultrasound and told me she didn't see anything of concern but she wants me to get a mammogram which she scheduled for this Friday.  I asked her about IBC and she said that there is no way that is an issue cause she can see that without any tests because the breast would be red or have a rash and be swollen.  Based on what I have read on some of the stories here this is not necessarily the case.

At this point I figure I will see what she says after my mammogram, she said she will have results that day and then if she seems to think it is not an issue should I push for a biopsy.  She was just so quick to dismiss IBC I am wondering if she is even that knowledgable in it or maybe I am just over reacting.

My ONLY symptom was a slightly pink area on my right breast.  No pain, swelling, itching etc.  Turns out I did have a 2cm mass that was not palpable, it showed up on mammo & US, and the mammo also showed skin thickening.  I have read the sites that Bonnie referenced, and it seems that it's pretty rare to have lots of symptoms.  Many women have had negative mammo's and US's, but the skin biopsy and/or MRI were diagnostic for them.  Second opinions are always a good idea, especially if you have questions.  Much love, Jessica
