Hi- I am ER+ but Her2 neu negative, so I haven't dug up anything in the alternative realm for dealing with Her2 neu positive. A dear friend of mine is Her2 neu positive, and has been on both Herceptin and Tykerb, but they seem to have stopped working- she now has a second recurrence. Does anyone know of any alternative/complementary treatments that address Her2 neu positive?

Thanks, and Happy New Year to All!

Maddy: This isn't alternative/complementary, but I thought you might be interested. (Sorry to intrude on this site, everybody.) I did the EKG and blood work today to get into a phase III clinical study of nerantinib - used to treat/prevent recurrence in Her2+. The research administrator told me that they got really good results in the first two phases of the trial with metastatic women.

Again - sorry to post this here, but your friend might be interested in nerantinib - google it.

And I'd be interested in any alt/comp treatments that specifically address Her2+ - that's why I clicked on your post.

I dont know if I should be posting this or not, but here it goes.

Her2 disease is very aggressive and it sounds like your friends BC is just that. I dont think any herb, plant, berry or special diet will help her against her disease........and win. I agree with the other poster and looking into another chemo regime.

My apologies about posting conventional treatment on the alternative forum...

Like the other posters, for advanced Her2+ cancer, I only know of demonstrated results from conventional treatments.  Here is a link to a summary of results from a new drug that showed significant improvement in heavily pretreated women (meaning women that have already have had many types of chemo and it is not working for them any more).  Heavily pretreated women typically do not respond in large numbers to new treatments, but for this drug there was a significant improvement with minimal toxicity.  Perhaps your friend can get into a trial with this drug.  It is called trastuzumab-DMI

It combines herceptin, which is made to hone in on the tumor with a chemo drug.  The herceptin part of the molecule delivers the chemo agent to the tumor, thereby minimizing toxicity to non-tumor cells.
