OMG Remember Labor Pains

So I went into labor this morning-full fledged labor for about 2 hours and then it STOPPED. I am now, at home sooooo uncomfortable. I am sitting upright in a chair and I think I might have to sleep in this chair.

When the the labor pains hit the memorys came flooding back and my first thought was-Oh S _ _ _ _ this is going to really flipping hurt.

Not to mention I consumed about 8 nutty butter cookies for breakfast, a sub and 2 more cookies for lunch and now I am on no more food mode b-c we all know what can happen on that table:)))

What I learned today is my doctor and nurse and very concernced for me. My doc said he will come in especially to deliver despite who is on call. I was both touched by their concern and scared. Also, I don't want to be the "cancer girl" delivering the baby.  I am not going to wear my wig but I am wearing a hat, and I am wearing my fake boob-if they ask me to take off my bra they are not going to like my answer. I refuse to be the bald uni boob girl having the baby. I want this to be as normal as possible so I have good memories.

Anyway just an update and a rant.  I am praying I go into labor tonight!!!

I went on the machine and the baby looks good-everything looks normal-no stress.

If I walk I have contractions-if I sit down they stop.

Oh, Jen, I wish I could just be there with you.

    Now, deep breaths.

Keep walking - not only does it help the contractions but it gets the baby's head right down where it has to be so second stage (pushing) is easier. Yes, I know it doesn't feel easier but it really is. Remember to relax; it makes the contractions easier to deal with.

Keep a mental picture of the most relaxing place you can think of. It could be a beach, the woods, your childhood bedroom - whatever place makes you want to just let go. When the contractions come, that's where you should go. Just let yourself melt into the chair or bed.

    Deep breaths.

Love from all of us will help get you through this. I'm feeling very privileged that your baby chose now - Jan 8 is also my birthday.

So it's after 10 pm in N.C. so it may happen tonight, I hope you get some rest for all that pushing. I am sorry about the no hair thing. I wore a bandanna with cap over. So no matter what my head was covered. It will soon be over with a bundle of joy. My sister had a baby a year ago and I just can't get enough of that kid. You mentioned your are on facebook, send me a message with your name if you want.

Oh, wow, your post brought back memories and made me laugh!  I can't wait to hear that beautiful, healthy baby is here and it all went smooth as silk.  I'll be praying for you both....and maybe a little one for anyone who tries to take your bra, too.  ;)

Now I am not going to be able to sleep tonight with the excitement of a baby on its way.  Try and get some sleep, then get up and walk so you do not have to be induced!  My midwife made me walk and then squat with each contraction to bring baby down.  If it gets uncomfortable get into that tub and R*E*L*A*X.

I am so excited for you!  Remember that through all the chemo and surgery that you have been through, that having a baby is one of the most natural things you can do.

I wish we are there with you... actually we all are there in spirit with you.....

    Sending peaceful vibes  your way.

How exciting!  OK, maybe too painful for you right now.  I like your idea of being as normal as possible.  This is the time for you and your baby...not cancer.   Hugs and prayers for an easy delivery.

Leah..I've always wanted to become a doula!  However, being a single mom kinda put a damper on late night trips to the hospital.

Totally forget the cancer.  Right now, this is all about the experience of your baby's journey into this world.  A time to create memories for your family.   The birth of a new baby is a beautiful event.  Enjoy this special time.

Jen - oh, I wonder if he is here yet??? So exciting!!

I remember a couple of days before my son was born suddenly realising I was not going to get any sleep for the next 6 weeks or so - I kind of forgot about that part of it!

Hope the delivery is smooth and event free......we are all right there with you. Post a photo if you can.

Jen, I started into labor but because my son wasn't presenting properly, they did a C-section before I got to the HARD labor. Good luck to you and your bundle of joy, focus on the moment and don't think about cancer.

Ohhh,.I remember labor pains and giving birth wasn't any better, lol. I wasn't able to get an epidural (sp?) nothing at all for pain. By the time I got to the hospital (everyone told me I had PLENTY of time since it was my first),.I was already pushing and my doctor said,.there was no time for pain killers to kick in,.YAY! Hahaha,.TOTALLY natural birth,.it seemed like an eternity,.but,.actually only took 4hrs and 20min,.total. (Labor 4 hrs and delivery 20min.) I remember it like it was yesterday,..even though my son is 22 now,.lol.I wish you a speedy delivery,.a healthy baby and a long wonderful life,.I have your hand! Goodluck!! :D

    Hugs, Kim~

Jen, I posted my best wishes to you on another of your threads.  Then I found this one.  I had no idea you were this close! I join the others in excited anticipation!

I can remember labor pains and I am 20 years past the last time I had them.  I would much rather walk around to get labor really going than to be induced.  I went through that once and vowed I would carry the next baby to his due date the next year than go through it again.
