lump in my armpit during chemo!
I recently found a lump in my armpit on the same side as the breast cancer and also where i had my lymphnodes taked out and mastectomy. I am going to get it biopsied today. I have read it could just be fatty tissue, but am very worried. Can i really be getting a new lump while in the middle of chemo? shannon

Shannon,
I'm so sorry you are going through this! Unfortunately I cannot answer your question. I just wanted to let you know that I will be praying for good results!

Shannon, it's possible they missed one during your initial surgery but far more likely to be scar tissue or maybe fluid thats built up after the node removal.
I'm really sorry you have this worry especially during chemo and will keep everything crossed for benign results:)

I had a lumpy armpit after surgery from a fluid buidup (seroma) and some fat necrosis.

Thanks ladies! I went today and the doctor said it was a cyst and drained it. It went waaaaaay down and is almost back already. My doctor warned me this could happen, but I didn't realize it could come back so quick! Onc said we will jus keep an eye on it instead of continuing to asperize while i am on chemo.....first bullet dodged of 2010!

I have the exact same experience going on right now and while I will go see my dr and have it checked, your post gave me relief tonight that it just might be a cyst and no big deal. It is the worst feeling to have had 2 surgeries, radiation and to almost be done with chemo and then find a lump! Urgh! I will have my dr look but so glad I read the posts here. Thanks

thank you all... I was really upset last night to find a lump in my armpit. My dr looked at it today and he thinks it is a hematoma from the surgery to remove my lymph nodes. He says it will dissolve on its own as I finish the chemo. He says that if he drains it then it will just fill back up and he could take it out but he seems to really feel that once the chemo stops, it will dissolve on its own. Having been through 2 surgeries, I am not interested in having another right now so I opted for his advise and we will wait and see. Fingers crossed! Thanks ladies! I really appreciate reading all the posts.

hey Shannysheilds, I was wondering if when you had your lump during chemo if it grew and/or hurt? Mine seems to be doing both. I see that this is an old post so perhaps you do not mind sharing if yours went away? Thanks for whatever you can share. :
