    I am not gonna make it to the gym today - fortunately I did my 60 min spin class yesterday!!! 

    I am however going to a meeting with all my running friends tonight - we are signing up for a tri in orlando and a 182 mile relay race to NYC.

    short walk early this morning before work to buy DD a donut treat......about 20 minutes.......will also try to walk tonight....was good yesterday....2 walks total about 1 hour 20 minutes in all....for some reason it is not habit to walk, need to keep it in the forefront of my mind....but when I walk it feels good.....if I overdo it, I don't feel it while walking, but later.....still need to get a pedometer...

    I didn't join in the contest because I wasn't sure how I would do with my neuropathy, but wanted to say it's giving me the push I need.  I've gotten out and walked 30 minutes for the last three days.

    Have been mixing mine up from my nordic track to the wii fit.  But, I've been doing something everyday!

    I walked 30 minutes on Mon, yesterday and plan to do it today...on my lunch time.

    Everyminute, when you do the relay to NYC, let me know. I am only 25 minutes from NYC..maybe I can cheer you on!!

    We have had a fresh fall of snow, so the footpaths are no longer like sheets of ice. This made me feel braver about getting out for a walk so I walked to the shop and back, 30 mins, then shovelled snow for another 30 mins. It felt good to be out in the fresh air.

    Loving the spreadsheet as well.  I can really see all the time I have been exercising and will show it to my onc and study nurse when I go in for my last AC infusion on Monday (prior to six of Taxol).  Have a 3 mile walk around Green Lake planned for later today as it is on the way to my oral surgeon check up on implant crown.

    BTW - the Wall Street Journal had a major article on the benefits of exercise yesterday.  I know all of us are most concerned about non-recurrence (50% less likely), but we also need to be mindful of things like heart disease, high blood pressure, and diabetes (which got my father).

    I thought it was also interesting that the medical community is starting to focus on exercise as opposed to weight maintenance.  There was an interesting study done at Mass General in the 1970s comparing first generation Irish in Boston to their cousins in Ireland.  Diet was similar (lots of butter and bacon), but the Irish cousins walked most places while the Boston cousins had cars.  Guess which group was healthier?

    I do know that one thing I will need to do post treatment is keep my weight down.  It had crept back up during my divorce and move to Seattle, although I had brought it down somewhat last year prior to diagnosis.  But I need to be about 10-15 lbs less than my current weight which I will make sure happens post treatment (once I know where I end up....have lost a few pounds so far).  So a few other changes in addition to the cycling/skiing/strength training I normally do.

    I find that training for cycling events in the summer keeps my fitness level up as does backcountry x-country skiing in the winter.  Don't have the cardio/strength to do these during chemo, so have toned things down a bit.  But nothing like a 3k uphill climb on skis to sculpt the body and get the heart working.  Can't wait to get back to all this.

    Right now, I am grateful for what I can do, and suspect my body will be thankful once I am done with chemo.  The 70 mile LiveStrong event is less than six months from now.....can't wait.

    Today my feet were hurting more than they have in the last few days, but........... I walked 40 minutes anyway - between the fitness threads and the dogs it's hard to make an excuse not to walk.  Tomorrow we're expecting freezing temps and rain hope I can get my walk in before the rain.  It feels so good to be walking again - amazing how exercise makes the brain feel good!

    I did another spin class tonight - definately addicted.  Came out of class dripping wet and worn out - almost got rid of that nagging pain in the pit of my stomach from that stupid blood test - but not completely :-(

    I walked around Green Lake after my visit to the oral surgeon.  Tooth misery is finally over and all is well with my implant Smile

    Got my energy back today, so was able to do the three miles in just under an hour....well an hour, but spent some time taking photographs of the sunset on the water with my new cellphone camera.

    Had never seen the sunset over Green Lake so a visual treat in addition to getting in my cardio for the day.  (Did weights/crunches earlier.)

    Glad your tooth is feeling better, Claire - tooth pain is awful!  Your walk sounds lovely!

    Candie - We will be in LI for a triathalon put on by Teamsurvivor and Trek.  Forget cheering me on - come do it with me!!!!  Cancer survivors are free for their first time!

    We are also looking at that crazy relay which will end up somewhere down there - have to figure out where that will be and let you know.  182 mile run from woodstock to ny - 12 person relay.  CRAZY!

    It's a whopping 7 degrees outside today so I may just go out for a walk in the snow.  Tonight the cold/wind is suppose to be back and bring windchills as low as -25 to -30.

    Bugs....Denver's temp is about the dame as yours.....went for a walk at the mall after driving car pool this morning....7:30 there are ususally several people already walking....today it was just me and a couple other people....I think the lousy roads and bitter cold kept people home instead of their ususal mall walk....I have a couple friends I often see walking and they weren't there....now my son calls me old because I walk in the mall....did 4 laps which took about 50 minutes...need to get a pedometer....don't know how far that is......now I need to shovel the driveway.....tomorrow it is supposed to get into the 30's so can walk outside....also need to get back to yoga...seems like if I get out of routine, its hard to get back....

    Another spinning class tonight - kicked my butt.  I walked out of there literally dripping.  Ran a mile first and that was the easy part.

    I am so addicted.  Not to mention that it burns about 700 calories!

    Karen, love that you walk in the mall!  So creative, I never would have thought of that!  Way to keep warm.  I walked/jogged last night with my dog.  He's a big strong boy, so when I start to jog, he gets all excited and pulls me along.  If I want to stop it's really hard because he doesn't want to...  A true example of a dog walking the human.

    haha! I know, when we get to the icy patches, I sometimes just get flung over them.  The dogs have 4 legs to figure it out, whereas we can topple!

    I'm late to the party, but appreciate the motivation!  Will have to do double-time to make up for first week which had some slothful days mixed in.  Heading out with the dog now  (another great motivator).

    In case you need more motivation, Main Squeeze remarked yesterday about how skinny I am.  This was in contrast to him having quite a bit more to squeeze from indulging in holiday treats.

    I also realize that cell turnover affects THAT area too, so was a bit sore.  Bummer.....but got in my Os anyway.  So a happy camper today for more than one reason Smile

    As a  point of reference, women on AC therapy usually gain weight.  I am down a few pounds, but more importantly, a lot slimmer and more toned.  I can even measure it with a tape measure where I have lost at least 2 inches from both waist and hips.

    Took today off - went and looked at boats instead!  Have a workout date planned with a friend tomorrow and we are going to the local farmers market as well!

    Sunday another spin class ! About 5 hours for the week :-)

    Off in a few to do a ride with skiing buddy who didn't want to ski in the rain and wind.  I don't either, so back to cycling.  Have a group ride planned for tomorrow.  Seems the cycling club has a lot of "walking wounded" so I will fit right in Smile    Will be fun to do an easy group ride as can't do anything strenuous at the moment.

    Fortunately, appears we will have clouds but no real rain his week end.  Would love the snow and crisp winter days that the East is having right now.  Missing that.  Trust me, you are not cold when out there on x-country skis.  You do have to watch the cooling down, but that is what bath tubs are for :)

    Thursday I wasn't able to get out for a walk, we had freezing rain move in all afternoon- but I did come home and cook and clean for 3 hours.  Friday I just couldn't find the motivation - but I found it again today and made it out for a 40 minute walk with the dogs.   

    I know a lot of y'all are used to dealing with the cold, but I'm not and these temps we're getting right now are just more than I"m used to.  If I can continue to find the motivation through this weather I won't have much of an excuse in any weather after this.

    30 min swim today - 20 laps (down and back) without stopping - all crawl.  Doesnt burn as many calories as spinning but a good workout nonetheless

    Eating has been very good this week - today, not so much.
