alibug, I'm so sorry about your Gram.  I'm glad you had one more Christmas with her.  My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.

Hello, (((hugs))) & prayers for a happy & healthy New Year to everyone.  Now that the holidays are behind us, we could use some updates, especially from Corinne, Jeannine, Lisa, and anyone I might be inadvertently missing who is still dealing with treatment, as well as the gals who have drifted away from our group, like Karen.  If you're reading, please check in and let us know how you're doing.

We had a lovely Christmas, marred only by DS's ongoing kidney stone saga.  He finally had surgery on 12/28, and after a mini-crisis yesterday, hopefully has that episode behind him.  It may sound odd to say, but there have been moments, like yesterday, when I was so glad I'd gone through bc, or I never would have had the patience to deal with his pain, ER visits, and sleepless nights.     Deanna

    Hello everyone,

Oh Alibug: I'm so sorry to hear about your Grandma.  My prayers to you and your family. Yes she's w/our beloved Bette now, keeping company. We're hear for you!

Met with the RAD Dr. and he was very detailed.  Oh I just love it when they say my case is "complicated & challenging"...lucky me! I may have to hold on RADS (Which will be like 14 weeks to both sides) pending on UCLA PARP trial.  Dr. did question me about wierd lump near my scar on rt. brst.  Now I'm worried.. He thinks it may be scar tissue and I pray it is..He was nice to say he'll check it in a few weeks to put me at ease...Hello.. I don't need any more drama!!

The good news is..UCLA is offering the PARP trial at many sites in CA.  I thought I'd have to drive 60 miles but there is a clinic right up my street. They're still working on study and it's about time for me to start chemo. Ready to start this.

Deen: My plan is to eat healthy AND lose some weight.  I ordered the "Health Master" from Montell Williams (very similary to Vitamix but cheaper).  I plan to really incorporate raw veggies and fruits for me & the family.  I also started to do some squats.  I bet you're excited about being a grandma! Yes, you will be a great one.

Deana: I hope your son is feeling better. You are right. Having gone through bc has only made you stronger.  I think of why my journey has gone this way and I believe there is a GOOD REASON..maybe to be part of PARP and become a stronger and better woman.

    Love you all!

Hey Ladies, I have been busy getting back to work and have not had time to check in.  Happy New Year to all!  Very cold here in Maryland, as some of you know!!

Jeannine, Happy Belated Birthday!  It sounds like you have a great attitude and will get through treatment well.

Deen, congrats to you!  I know you will be a special grandmother.

Deanna, love your new avatar!!  Is that your hair?!  It looks awesome!!

Ali, hugs girl. I know sometimes life can be tough.

I am reading a very good book. As a matter of fact here is an interesting story about it. About 2 months ago I decided that I would write a book and title it "In God's Waiting Room." Before I began, I checked to see if anyone had used that title before. Lo and behold, someone wrote a small book with that title. A preacher by the name of Dr. Lehman Strauss. So...I thought I better buy the book and see what it says. It has been sooooooooooooo helpful. Even though I know most of this book, I am seeing things in a slightly strengthened way. Hey, that is how God's Word is.  I bought my copy on half.com for I think around 3 bucks. I think all of us would find it comforting and encouraging.

To all my BC sisters, I love you

alibug, I'm sorry for your loss.  I know you will cherish her memory, it sounds like you were very close, which is wonderful.

Deanna, isn't it great that we have been strengthened and can now help others?  I really feel like that too.  Still hope everything is better for you now. Great hair!

Jeaninne, glad to hear things are moving forward for you.  I have used some of Montel's recipes in my mixer, and some of them are really good.  I actually lost weight just using them for lunch when we had a Biggest Loser contest at work a couple years ago.  Try different ones, you'll like some, some aren't so great.  Good luck, keeping in good basic health will get you through this a little easier.  I'm praying for you!:)

Misty, stay warm!!!!  It's 20 something here, which is weird for us, we don't know how to handle it!

Corinne, coinsidence or not?:)  I love when things like that happen!  Stay warm yourself!

Ladies, I'm adopting a dog today!  I can't wait!  He's a beautiful Boxer mix and we took to eachother immediately!  He'll be my hiking companion and I can't wait to get started.  Now if this weather will cooperate!  Have a great weekend!

Sounds like everyone is off to a great and positive New Year 2010!  I'm so happy for everyone.  I'm trying to be healthier too & have joined (mostly lurking still) Deanna's "Natural Girls" thread.  I really like the idea of incorporating healthy raw fruits and vegetables into my diet.  I'm also on my way tonight to pick up the book "Anti-Cancer, A New Way of Life" by David Servan-Schreiber.  Deanna is going to attend a discussion given by him at UCLA.  Please let us know the good things that you learn.  You are such a positive example and I want to thank you for being there for me!

I'm really loving this book Deanna!  Thank you so much for recommending it!  I would encourage others to get it too!  I wish I had it when I was diagnosed and new all the wonderful things Dr. Servan-Schreiber is advocating.  How was his lecture this weekend Deanna?  Did you get to go?

How was everyone else's weekend?  Freezing???  I know mine was!    Brrrr!

    Hi there everyone!

I've been so busy at work and at home. Getting ready for my 80's b-day bash tomorrow w/the family & friends. I'm really looking forward to it. I've got my Madonna outfit ready to go!

I'm feeling well. I think my lump is probably scar tissue. The nice RAD Dr. wants to follow-up and check.

Well I finally got somewhere in the  PARP trial and am 1/2 way there. I got to speak with an awesome researcher who told me they're seeing terrific results. He told me Ixempra is only like 42% effective and when your bc returns, it comes back w/a vengeance...hmmm. Now I'm waiting on ins. approval which may be a little fight. but you all know me! I'll fight tooth n nail for this one...What's incredible about PARP is it attacks the single stranded DNA along w/the Carbo platinum chemo that attacks the double strand. & low toxicity. That's why they exclude you if you already had it. I am ready...

Deen: Congrats on your new family addition! How cute. Do you have pix? I still haven't rec'd my Health Master yet.  I better call Montel.

Hood:  Well it's 76 degrees in CA but after tomorrow we're in for a stormy week. I'm trying to incorporate more raw veggies and eliminate sugar in my diet. It's tough w/my sweet tooth.

Deanna: Too bad I won't see you and Gail tomorrow but hopefully soon! Yes please update us on the seminar!

    Have a blessed weekend all.

Hi everyone, I know I have not been around lately, Finally got my new computer up without viruses up so I am back online. There has not been too much posted here lately...so I will try to be more diligent. I have been able to call a couple of you and am happy to have some phone numbers to check up on you. If anyone would be so kind to pm me I would gladly call you and give you a boost of encouragement.

Well, I had my echo today and I am just about in the neratinib trial. I will find out tomorrow when I start. I hope you are all well, Jeannine: Are you any closer to the PARP trial? Lisa, Are you finished with your new girls? I am going for revisions in March if I am feeling well on the trial.  Things are really getting back to a normal setting. Feeling much better since surgery.

I love you all and look forward to hearing from all my bc sisters!!

What a day!! I was thrown off my horse for the first time today. I thought....am I okay?? Will I be able to start the clinical trial even with a broken bone. I got up, even though my tailbone is quite sore, and got back on to ride. He is not getting away with this was my mentality. Anyhow, tomorrow is a new day and I plan on riding!!! The moral of the story is keep on pressing on dear sisters!!!

    Hey there everyone!

I've been soo soo busy battling the insurance companies (& budget cuts at work) but I FINALLY got approved for the PARP trial.  I had to file a grievance with my ins. and I won. It's been so darn stressful. Now I've got to have my CT scan (next week) and IF there is residual bc I qualify.  If not, then it's probably RADS and another chemo for me. I was so frazzled because I hadn't received approval and the deadline for consent was this Wed. I really had to put all of my faith and trust in the Lord and boy did he come through.  UCLA really has been a blessing and really assisted me but it took a lot of perserverance on my end. Even the onc. nurse said I should get into the trial after all the hurdles I've jumped!

I'm sorry to hear you fell off your horse and broke your collerbone Corrine. I hope you're feeling better. How's your trial going?

I guess everyone is busy too.  Going to Vegas tomorrow with the family. Need to get outta town. I'm feeling well. Still sore by my incision and no swelling Amen.

I'll post soon.  (Oh BTW, My B-day party was awesome). It was a great turn out. I had too many applemartinis though.

    Miss you all!

Jeaninne, so glad to hear from you.  I'll be praying for you through this.  Such a shame we have to fight the ins companies as well as the cancer.  You are a true warrior!  I hope you have fun in Vegas and win lots of cash!:)

Corinne, sorry for the fall.  I've done that a thousand times, but not at my age now!  Ouch!  Glad you were able to get right back on!

Hope everyone has a great weekend,

    Hi Girls,

Yes, we have gotten almost 25 inches of snow here from the weekend storm.  Now, we are suppose to get 12-20 more tomorrow evening.  Yikes!!!!  No school for me for the next few days.

Allie, great job on the weight loss.  Deen, I am jealous of your warmer weather in Texas.

Jeannine, how are you doing?  Glad you had a nice b'day.  Corinne, how are you feeling with your fall?

I still come here from time to time to check on everyone.  I find that I really try to get away from this Board and back to normal life.  I still think of everyone each day!!!!!

    Hi Everyone,

We're enjoying the new year here in southern California desert - it's the best time of year here. (yes, shorts weather almost). Sorry you folks in the east are getting so much snow - giant snowmen anyone?

Corinne, so sorry about the fall - and the courage to get back on - I sure know how that feels - but not lately, thank goodness.

Jeannine, I know you had the coolest birthday - I have your invitation picture right in front of me!

Misty, I understand about wanting to get back to normal life. I also think of you all with love and meditate on all our good health in a positive way.

Hugs for everyone - with love,

    Hello

CA is expecting more rain this week but we enjoyed a beautiful day yesterday. I find that I enjoy the weather like my life ...1 day at a time. Well here's my status update all. Bad news CT scan results showed a 4x2 mass in rt. axilla but the GOOD news is that should be enough for me to qualify for PARP study. Also: all other organs are still clear AMEN!  I go to UCLA tomorrow to sign the consent and give my CD for review. (Gee if I don't get in this really sucks) but I can't see why not. I'm so ready to start & if and when I get in, let's pray I get the drug and NOT the placebo.  Lady luck has to be on my side. This has been a journey girls...Ehole' (That's spanish for Whew!)

Allie: You go girlfriend!  Congrats on losing the weight! I over did on Superbowl Sunday and need to get back on track. (I still haven't rec'd my Healthmaster :(  on back order).

Misty: I TOTALLY can relate to wanting to break from us but so happy you stay in touch. Wow! You are snowed in girlie. At least you get a few days off. I don't think I could adjust to the cold. You too Gail.  Maybe we can all get together again in the Desert soon? I really enjoyed our get together last year.

Wish me luck on my Dr. visit tomorrow. She's an awesome Dr. who totally knows the challenge w/ TN's.  God willing they will have better protocol for us soon.

    Prayers & Hugs,

    Jeannine

Today I started taking the Neratinib pills. I have given this to God as far as the placebo versus the real thing. A little nervous but feeling great

Jeannine: I cannot believe the red tape that you have hade to go through. It must be so frustrating. I will definitely pray for the real thing!!!!

Misty: I uinderstand and I love you and thank you for all that you have meant to me. Your pic looks great.

Expecting about 8 inches here. Nothing major.

Lisa needs our prayers. I talked with her husband and she had the gamma knife thing yesterday.

Deanna: How are you doing girl???

Hugs to all, I love you
