It is with great sadness that I share with you the loss of Mike on 01/01/10.  We met here on BCO a few years ago, as we discovered we were both from the same town.  We exchanged many emails over the years and shared with each other about our families, etc.

He fought so hard ... my heart is broken for Mike's twin daughters and all those who loved him.

Rest in Peace Mike ...

with love,

Bren

Bren, I saw your post of this on the other thread and came over here because we (or I) tend to not remember that we have brothers on this journey as well.  I want to let all our brothers know that you are not knowingly left out and I will try and add all of you into my daily prayers.

I send my sincerest condolences to Mike's twins and the rest of his family.

Oh, this is so heartbreaking! I always enjoyed Mike's posts, especially the one where he nudged me to keep in mine that breast cancers' also strike our men. He caught my attention then, so true, and I followed some here and on No Surrender's site.

Mike was strong, ever so strong. His morbidity was significant but he rarely complained. He taught other men and women the ins and outs of hormonal therapy and chemotherapies. He firmly believed that finding metastasis early helped by reducing the degree of injury and therapy needed. In short, he was a true leader on this site and else for male breast cancer. I will miss him greatly.

My sincere condolences to his family as well as to you Bren, for I know you struck up a wonderful friendship. Thank you for being there for Mike.

    Rest in peace, Mike.

    Tender

    Dear Friends,

I have just returned from Mike's memorial service and graveside service.  The first song was "Let it Be" and the last was "Here Comes the Sun."  Mike loved the Beatles.

I was able to talk to one of his daughters briefly after the graveside service, and I told her that if she checked this site, she would find a tribute to her dad.

The service was a wonderful tribute to Mike, and even though I didn't know a single person there, I knew Mike ... and I grieved for his daughters, as well as our loss.  I grieved for my dad as well.

     love, Bren

Hello for the first time on this site.  I am Mike's daughter Katherine as I'm sure many of you have heard my Dad speak of me and my sister Stacey before.  It has taken some time for me to be able to post here or at NoSurrender but I now truly understand why this was so important to him.  You are an incredible group of people and my sister and I could never thank you enough for the support you provided our Dad.

We miss him dearly but are so thankful that he no longer has to suffer or be in pain.  Please keep in touch with us and continue to keep us in your prayers.  My sister and I are both very passionate about getting awareness about male breast cancer to the forefront.  Please let us know if you would be interested in helping or if you have ideas of who to contact.

Please keep in touch as we will be checking these boards regularly and don't hesistate to ask us questions or advice based on Dad's treatments.  We are by no means as intelligetn as him, but I would like to think from his teachings we have picked up a thing or two :)

With all the love in the world,

    Katherine

    Katherine/Stacey

I chatted and exchanged emails off and on for the last couple of years with your dad. He was so very proud of the two of you....I remember him telling me about you going off to college!!!

He was a wonderful man and I was blessed to have known him.

    Hugs

    Jule
