It takes 30 days to become habit CONTEST
Thriving Threes -
You MUST excercise at least 30 mins each day of the month in January
The only way you can take a day off is if you do 60 mins on a day BEFORE you take a day off (pay it forward)
Feel free to post your work outs but keep track on a spreadsheet showing -
date, workout, number of minutes worked out for each day and a total for the month (I can email you a spreadsheet if you need one - pm your email address).
Each person who emails me their completed spreadsheet for Jan in the first week of Feb will get a prize :-)
In Feb we will have a new contest...
Who is in?!?

Okay! I'm in! But, does walking my dog at a nice pace consist of exercise? Please PM me a spreadsheet.
Thanks for thinking of this Mary!
-
Uhh, yeah..I already failed this one. My workout today was taking a long bath in a jacuzzi tub. Although I did strip my bed and put clean sheets on it.
-
You are not getting off that easy, Bugs - We start tomorrow am (31 days in January)
Let-it-be - Yep - 30 mins of walking the dog counts! Just get out there and MOVE! Next month we will try to get some strength training in....
-
Does my head start of November and December count? I have exercised every single day since starting chemo. Minimum of a one mile walk, so not sure if that meets the minimum. But since I do strength training 5 days a week, this is normally in addition to weights/crunches.
I am hoping to do this for the remainder of chemo, then move on to training for the 70 mile route of LiveStrong in June...Seattle event.
Forgot to ask if major "action" counts towards towards the total? Will need to factor that in as well some days
Was dragging today big time, but did do enough to meet the minimum. Hoping to get in a ride tomorrow on my bicycle. So am off to a good start for 2010.
I am a 2b and not a 3. Can I join anyway? Great idea as I am convinced that the only reason I was not a 3 is the endurance events I did last year prior to my surgery.
-
Claire - you are in! Even if you have to break it up into 3 - 10 min sessions. Just keep track so you can email me your "report" at the end of the month!
-
I am in except do I get an exception for the week of the birth:)????loll
I need a spreadsheet.
-
Yeah, I need a Spreadsheet too.....
Fantastic idea.
-
I'm in, girlfriend, and I can help with the gifts! Please email me a spreadsheet. I am off to workout in a few minutes!
-
We could do a rotating gift thing, each month it is someone elses turn to do it.
-
Thriving Threes, I love it! What a great idea. Count me in.
-
Jayne - how are you doing now you are all "done"??
-
OK, day 1 done! Cross country skiing...and no, not outside. -20F this morning...that's just wrong! I have to admit..dang it felt good to work those muscles!
-
Yah! Freezing cold here too.
I keep getting side-tracked, about to go do mine now.....
-
Sherri - we were downtown yesterday, and I was thinking of you and your rescue mission - I know you are a godsend for so many people when it is freezing like this.
So, just did 38 minutes of step on the Wii.
The Wii Fit Plus has a whole bunch of new games, and some cool new features, like calorie counter, training tracker, etc. It also allows for multi-player, which is great for us with the kids playing along. We used to have to go out and come back in to switch Mii's.
-
Mary, if you have a spreadsheet already made, I'll take one. I could make one...but why? LOL I'll PM you my email addy.
-
Sherri, stay warm out there. It's a good thing that you do. I don't know how people can live outside in this below zero weather.
-
Spreadsheet is done - pm me your addresses!!!!
-
I just got back from a spin class ! I am taking my antibiotics but I am thinking this is lymphedema - sigh. Will try to get in somewhere tomorrow. Is there no end to this freaking nonsense!
-
It's been cold here today too, with some snow. Not terribly cold just now though, 2C. Nevertheless the snow and rain has put me off going out walking so I have done my usual yoga plus some time on the rowing machine. I am told I can start going swimming again 4 weeks after end of rads, I can hardly wait.
Kerry it feels great to be finished thanks. The further out from chemo I get the better I feel. I was so pleased to get it all done before Christmas, it really feels like a new year and a new start.
-
Hi, I don't know yet what stage I am yet. I have my surgery Feb 5th. Can I still join?
If so please send me a sreadsheet.
Thanx
Lee
-
Jayne - glad to hear you are doing better. I never really realised how rotten I was feeling until I started feeling better again!
Mary - thanks for the spreadsheet! I have filled in for yesterday and today. Man, sorry about the arm, you're right - it is ridiculous. Hope you manage to get it sorted out quickly.
-
So sorry about the swelling/lymphedema. I realize that I am a good candidate as well. But in NO WAY am I willing to be less than a vigorous, healthy, vital woman, so will keep exercising regardless.
Thanks for letting me join. One common format for a spreadsheet will be helpful, so will pm you with my email address. Off in a half hour or so for a wet bicycle ride with a friend (who is patient enough to let me work through the breathing issues I will have during this ride). Suspect I will get soaked as rain coming in across the Puget Sound. Warm though, so will be fine with a hot bath later.
Jayne..... Thanks for your update. I am thinking that my body will be beyond grateful when all is done at the beginning of April. Will have rads, but I expect energy to soar once done with chemo.
Expect something like one hour of exercise today cycling and may do a supermarket run later as well. So on track, even if yesterday was a major struggle. Got tons of sleep so feel like a new woman this AM. Breakfast of eggs and bacon helped as well
-
Lee - sure! The more the merrier - just pm me your email address for the spreadsheet!
-
Sherry and Bugs - pm your email address for spreadsheet!
-
Geez, does it ever stop giving? (bc, the gift that keeps on giving). Sorry about the lymphodema..do you have a sleeve? Check out the lymphadema forum...lots of good info.
-
I do have a sleeve. I wore it today to spin class and for awhile after. Swelling is not too bad and pain is managable. I dont think I am supposed to use sleeve if it is cellulitis but i have no specific redness just an overall pain and swelling so I am doing the antibitiotic AND sleeve.
f--king sigh....
-
I can't believe it. Just as my friend and I got out to go cycling, the sky cleared and we had SUNSHINE. We also had a good "breeze" which made the going challenging in some places. But I did the planned route!!!! YAY!
I can't even begin to describe how much better I feel today. Need some soup and a hot bath as I am a bit chilled from sweating and then cooling down.
I can feel that my abs are tighter, most likely from cycling into the wind.
The best is that we saw a bald eagle circling above Magnolia Bluff. Just the greatest sight....
-
Count me in....I will PM you my addy (both email and snail mail)....I was good about walking yesterday, but today it was 3 - 10 minute walks.
If walking can be the only exercise, then I should be could.
Every...thanks for doing this for all of us. Karen
-
Have walked each day since Christmas but need incentive to keep it up, so count me in too.My problem is the heat , either has to be first thing in the morning or later in the evening.
Alyson
-
