Vinca, or Vinpocetine

Hey Ladies:

I need to know what anyone knows about taking vinca for chemo-brain. The stuff I bought tonight is called Vinpocetine, and it's supposed to support brain metabolism by improving utilization of oxygen, as well as synthesis of neurotransmitters which affect memory recall, mood, and focus.

So far nothing else has really worked, so I thought I'd give it a try...

I haven't heard about Vinpocetine, so I can't speak to that specifically. I do know that 2 chemotherapy drugs come from the vinca plant--Vincristine and Vinblastine. Of course, plants have hundreds of compounds in them so their effects can't be judged on just 2 compounds. Can you find a research/reports on Vinpocetine?

I was surprised to hear a paid commercial for Vopocetine on the radio this morning! I don't usually pay any attention to the claims made by someone selling a supplement, but I did listen to this one. The guy selling it made it sound like it would cure everything. I'll be really interested to see any research you find.

OK, here's what I have so far. Good stuff, partic for those of us on Tamox, since Tamox carries risk of stroke as a side effect and vipocetine reduces stroke risk. However, not many human studies in the U.S. (what else is new...)
