abdominal pain
I started having upper abdominal pain in my 9th week of taxol treatment (after A/C). I went on prilosec but the pain continued until my last 12th treatment. It is upper abdomin band-like and goes to my back and I burp alot.I told my onc dr it still hurt and she said go see a GI guy. He thinks its chemo related and put me on prilosec twice a day with p[pepcid complete twice a day. It was going away alittle beffore xmas but come back again (christmas food?) I have a terrible fear that it is cancer in my stomach! My pretreatment scans were negative. We ruled out pancreatitis, hep0atitis and pleural effusions. Could this be a hiatal hernia? Any advice? Radiation up next.
Happy new year and god bless

Have you had your gallbladder checked?
Are you taking NSAIDS?
Have you already had surgery? What did you opt for? I know my nerve endings started regenerating about 6-9 months after my bilateral mastectomy and even at 2-1/2 years out, I started having back pain that has subsided.
NSAIDS can cause ulcers and gallbladder is classic for women over 40 (not sure how old you are).
ILC tends to grow slower; your dx of June would make me think it is not a recurrence.
Best to you....go to a GI doc and get the pain fixed!

Thanks for takng time to respond.
My gallbladder is out. I am 56 yo. I had bilateral mastectomies in june 09. Could it be nerve regrowth? I am not taking NSAID now. I will call my GI guy next week, he is on vacation this week.
thanks - happy new year.

prv...chemo did a job on my stomach....by the time I was done, I was in a world of hurt....starting taking Neium 40mg after 1st round of chemo....pcp upped Nexium to 40mg twice/day and put me on what I called "bland and boring" diet....3 months post chemo I had endoscopy that was normal...with time stomach got better. over 3 years post chemo, there are still foods that I no longer eat....NASIDS did not bother my stomach....it was heartburn to the 9th degree.....hope you feel better soon.
