Hair loss and testosterone levels?

Options

Dear Ladies

My daughter Lori has experienced hair loss on the crown of her head. Her hair has always been thin and fine, but after chemo, it began to come in thicker, and now once again it is thinning. Lori is on BHRT, and on the natural thyroid med, but this plays havoc with her sleep. She wants to know if there is a saliva test she can take to check the testosterone levels. I remember reading that some of you do the saliva testing...but...what is that for? Lori is thinking that if she raises the estrogen levels that would help. Any suggestions? She is a member of Life Extension and will be calling them and hopefully will get some answers. Not all the doctors know everything, and you women appear to have researched many alternatives. I did find these articles on women's hair loss.

    Hi Nan,

If Lori is doing the iodine protocol, this can contribute to hair loss, too.  Either bromide detox, too much selenium, not enough magnesium.  BTW--I was having the same problem prior to my diagnosis and I am curious to see what happens when my hair starts to grow back.  Also, I started on Armour Natural Thyroid to see if this helps.

    Dear MBJ,

Oh thank you so much for replyingSmile. I have been checking many times every day to see if there was a reply. I will send her a snippet of your post, and she can look in to your suggestions.
