I am a 69 year old woman and one week after radiotherapy  ( 25 treatments ) I developed a large lump in the area of surgery. Above actual area of where the cancer was removed.  Quite fluid at first but three weeks later turned hard solid, I have been told by my doctors that the body would absorb it. It's been five months so far and not much has changed. I would love to hear from anyone with a similar experience.

I had several of these lumps after radiation--the rads had destroyed the blood vessel and the lumps turned out to be abcesses from the dead breast tissue getting infected.  I finally had to have a mastectomy to stop the pain  and because the holes left by the abscesses wouldn't heal due to the radiation damage.  You need to push to find out for sure what is going on before you get a system infection like I did.  Out of 8 days in the hosptial I only remember 3.  The radiation doc will try to tell you it's a seroma from the surgery, but don't let them brush you off with that.  Insist on more follow up--ultrasound, MRI if necessary, biopsy, whatever.
