oo-oo child
Ooh-oo child
Things are gonna get easier
Ooh-oo child
Things'll get brighter
Ooh-oo child
Things are gonna get easier
Ooh-oo child
Things'll get brighter
Some day, yeah
We'll get it together and we'll get it all done
Some day
When your head is much lighter
Some day, yeah
We'll walk in the rays of a beautiful sun
Some day
When the world is much brighter
Ooh-oo child
Things are gonna be easier
Ooh-oo child
Things'll get be brighter
Ooh-oo child
Things are gonna be easier
Ooh-oo child
Things'll get be brighter
Some day, yeah
We'll get it together and we'll get it all done
Some day
When your head is much lighter
Some day, yeah
We'll walk in the rays of a beautiful sun
Some day
When the world is much brighter
Some day, yeah
We'll get it together and we'll get it all done
Some day
When your head is much lighter
Some day, yeah
We'll walk in the rays of a beautiful sun
Some day
When the world is much brighter
Ooh-oo child
Things are gonna get easier
Ooh-oo child
Things'll get brighter
Ooh-oo child
Things are gonna get easier
Ooh-oo child
Things'll get brighter

When I was dignosed with cancer towards the end of last year, what gave me peace were the songs of Bebo Norman the CD "Great light of the world" sent to me by my daughter. Believe me, the words of the songs "I will lift my eyes" and "Nothing without you" were my anchor in the storm.
Share with me the chorus of "I will lift my eyes" which was culled from Psalm 121.
"I will lift my eyes, to the Maker of the mountains I can't climb
I will lift my eyes, to the Calmer of the Oceans raging wild
I will lift my eyes, to the Healer of the hurt I hold inside
I will lift my eyes, lift my eyes, to you"
You see, to me the mountain was the cancer and only God has the power to help me overcome it; the oceans was the crisis and confusion such a diagnosis brings to you and since Jesus calmed the tempest on the Sea of Galilea and He is the Prince of Peace, I looked to Him to calm the fear and confusion I was feeling and of course He is the Healer.
These songs brought such peace to me whenever I sang along with Bebo Norman and wept before my Lord. I always leave His presence with such peace, courage and strength to continue to fight this devil of a cancer. I believe that cancer is a name and in Philipinas 2, we're told that Jesus has been given a name above ALL names so when praying, I always command 'cancer' to bow before the name of Jesus.
I have faith that I am healed because my God has the last word over my life and health and not any disease. So do not fear, believe that your God is in your tomorrow so why should we fear? Psalm 27.1
I wish everyone peace, hope and love.

This isn't a hymn or religious song, but it helped me out when I was going through rads, "Three Little Birds" by Bob Marley.
-
These are not hymns or specifically related to fighting cancer but two pieces of music that are great at bringing peace to me are:
Mr. Tambourine Man
J.S. Bach's Goldberg Variations

Climb Every Mountain

This is my first time coming to this thread and I wanted to share one of my favorite hymns. When I was first diagnosed with mets a little over a year ago this hymn was all I could whisper; "please Lord, just be with me" was all I could think of. It saw me through a very scarey time.
ABIDE WITH ME
Abide with me; fast falls the eventide;
The darkness deepens; Lord with me abide.
When other helpers fail and comforts flee,
Help of the helpless O, abide with me.
Swift to its' close ebbs out life's little day;
Earth joys grow dim, its glories pass away.
Change and decay in all around I see;
O Thou who changest not, abide with me.
Come not in terrors, as the King of kings,
But kind and good, with healing in Thy wings.
Tears for all woes, a heart for every plea,
Come Friend of sinners, and thus bide with me.
Thou on my head in early youth didst smile;
And though rebellious and perverse meanwhile,
Thou has not left me, oft as I left Thee.
On to the close, O Lord, abide with me
I need Thy presence every passing hour,
What but Thy grace can foil the tempter's power?
Who like Thyself my guide and stay can be?
Through cloud and sunshine, O abide with me.
I fear no foe with Thee at hand to bless;
Ill's have no weight, and tears no bitterness.
Where is death's sting? Where grave thy victory?
I triumph still if Thou abide with me.
Hold Thou Thy cross before my closing eyes;
Shine through the doom and point me to the skies.
Heaven's morning breaks and earth's vain shadows flee,
In life, in death O Lord, abide with me.

Thank you for sharing that.

Where could I go but to the Lord.

Let my prayers rise up, like incense before you, the lifting up of my hands, as an offering to you.
Oh God, I call to you, come to me now, oh hear my voice as I cry to you.
Keep watch over me, deep in my heart, may the light of your love, be burning bright.
Let my prayers rise up, like incense before you, the lifting up of my hands, as an offering to you.
