Tattoo removal

Anyone have their rad tattoos removed? I'm thinking about doing it next year. I don't know why they bother me, because they are really small, but I hate them. If it's really expensive or hurts like hell, I might put up with them but I'd prefer not having to look at them.

    Hi Flmel,

I'm pretty positive that you are not supposed to have those removed as they are markers for where you had the rads and if you ever have a recurrence ( which I really hope that you won't) but the dosimetrists will know where not to radiate. B/c you can't be radiated in the spot twice. I would definitely bring that ? up to your rad onco, though. Also, and i could be wrong on this, but I thought that I had heard a couple years back that some women will get like daisies around their markers so that they look nicer and therefore aren't a reminder of something bad..

    Good luck!

I just had my one year checkup with the radiation oncologist and he also said to keep them. He said if there was ever a need for further radiation it would be a huge help to have the marks. I have 2 on my chest wall that are visible with scoop neck tops and really bug me! The nurse said to try to cover them with makeup if it bothers me. They asked if anyone ever commented or noticed them and they haven't but I know they are there! Has anyone out there found a good coverup that doesn't come right off? Thanks!
