Kenalog Cream

Has anyone been prescribed Kenalog Cream for burns and blisters from radiation?  I haven't see anyone mention it. That is what my Mother was given but it doesn't seem to help and burns terribly when she applies it.

Kenalog is a wonderful cream. From what i remember. Used it both on allergic diaper rash, years ago. And also the vet prescribed it for bad friction burn on my dogs mouth/lips As you can guess, noone has ever told me, it burned. I thought it did a great job healing . I'm sorry it's not helping your Mom. Use it sparingly.

    Hi,

Another option is to research and ask your mom's doc about Silvadene.  It's what my onco rad prescribed after aloe vera was no longer helping.  Using it is like zinc ozide...a thick white cream but doesn't cause any feeling on the skin.  It's what they give burn trama victims at the major burn unit in Seattle (and if you have any left after rad burning is gone, save it as a helpful household cream for burns)

Insist on Silvadene - it will heal you quickly - it feels wonderful too

After suffering almost two weeks with the Kenalog, the doctor did give my Mother silvadene and she could notice the difference over night and in three days was able to continue on with her treatments. It just angers me because I am sure it was probably some kind of an insurance thing. She has three more treatments to go...done in time for Christmas. Thank you all for your suggestions....I appreciate it.

Do you need a prescription for Silvadene?
