can neuropathy caused by TAXOTERE be cured?
my 58 years old wife has had 4 cycles of FEC and four cycles of TAXOTERE. Now, she is having severe agonising sciatica pain which her oncologist diagnosed as a side effect of Taxotere.
What would be the best treatment for her neuropathy and agonising pain?

My oncolgist put me on Lyrica for the neuropathy that I experienced from taking Taxol. My neuropathy eventually got better. I completed my chemo in October 2008. Best of luck to your wife.

That's odd. My oncologist told me that sciatica has nothing to do with the taxane I received. Neuropathy is bilateral. Is her sciatica on both sides? Have they done any other tests to pinpoint the cause of the sciatica?

I finished Taxotere in April and most of the neuropathy went away by late summer. But I had 9 cycles of Taxotere so your wife might get some relief sooner.

don't make the mistake i made. CHECK with an specialist in neurology of the spine. The pain that was being attributed to side effects turns out to be a fracture that now will need surgery. If I had found it earlier, it would have taken less invasive surgery and a better expected outcome.
It is so simple to have plain old radiographs of the spine and bone scan. I wish I'd done it sooner.

Yes we did her an MRI of lumbo-sacral spine. It showed multi-level disc lesions which neuro-surgeons and spine surgeons told us : the case is inoperaple. One neurosurgeon said that she could get benefit out of a RADIO-FREQUENCY under C-arm imaging and one pain therapiest said that she could get benefit for her pains by performing an epi-dural nerve block also under C-arm imaging.
Her oncologist said the case is a neuropathy complication or a side effect of TAXOTERE (4 cycles after 4 cycles of FEC). He also told us the case is self cured in 2-3 months time.
Her sciatica pains are only on the right side
THAK GOD, I TOOK MY WIFE 6 WEEKS AGO TO PERFORM (( HIJAMAH)) FOR HER. THIS IS A PROCDURE BY WHICH THE OPERATOR IS CREATING A NEGATIVE PRESSURE INSIDE GLAS CUPS AFTER MAKING SOME SUPERFICIAL INCISIONS BY A STERILE SCALPEL AT THE AFFECTED SITE . " In my wife's condition it was at the lower most skin opposite her sacrum"
fortunately her neuropathy pains were nearly 90% cured after nearly 4 weeks.
You can check every thing about ((HIJAMAH or HIJAMA)) by openeing it on Google search engine or any other search engine.
THANK YOU ALL FOR YOUR CONCERN

Self-cured in 2-3 months? Could be, but it also could be longer. I've still got some lingering neuropathy, although not nearly as much as I did during/immediately after taxotere treatments.
I spoke with a medical doctor/naturopath the other day. When I mentioned lingering neurological issues due to taxotere, she suggested I try adding a B vitamin complex to my regimen. I bought enough to try it for 60 days to see if it helps.
