Hives

Today was my first treatment and within about 2 hours after I felt a slight burning type pain and when I looked I had a hive where I felt the pain, that went down and about an hour after that I noticed the pain again in another area and when I looked again I saw a hive.  I have very sensitive and fair skin, has anyone else had this happen or heard of it happening?  I think my techs are going to think am nuts if I tell them this after one treatment.  Thanks for any information!

    Tami, I did not have rads, but my skin is super sensitive.   Did they or you put any cream or lotion on?   It could be a reaction to the cream/lotion.   Good luck and don't forget to tell them about the hives.

    Hi Nancy,

    Thanks for the reply.  No creams or lotions, they only cleaned the areas (not where hives appeared) where they put two tatts. Very strange for sure and I hope this is not a sign of things to come.

    I am allergic to scrub soap so I wonder if what they "cleaned" the area with caused it.   I had hives after my last Taxol and Herceptin treatment - 12 weekly doses.   They started on my arm, and I had a port, so it was not the immediate contact area.   By the time I got to the ER, I was covered head to toe.   An IV of benedryl took care of it for me and I was given 2 Epi Pens, which I carry at all times, along with benedryl pills.   

    And I have a long list of allergies to drugs, tape, scrub soap, food  - including chocolate, and grass and tree pollens.   When asked, I tell them there is not enough room to write them all, so I printed out sticky lables and carry those with me and wear a Medic Alert bracelet on my ankle.
