I had a lot of hip pain, back pains...did MRIs of back...there is some spinal cord compression in the neck which is causing neck pain . I still have the hip pain...lower back spine MRI is normal...

Anyway...I am so anxious now....my MRI OF BREAST( reconstructed breast) shows 1 cm tumour highly suspecious of malignancy..it 's posterior to the breast (left) I guess that means in the chest wall muscle...originally i had BC in the right breast. tomorrow I am going to call my oncologist...My breast surgeon had ordered this MRI as part of 1 year follow up. The radiologist who read the report suggests and ultrasound to verify. but i remember my breast surgeon saying MRI is much more effective in reconstructed breast...I will talk to all the DOCS tomorrow...

God I hope that i can do a lumpectomy..and get it over.with..and then i have to find out why my hip hurts...I was thinking it was my spine but that's not true...

    If your MRI's are clear that is a good thing! Your pain may be from the shutting down of your ovaries. Spontaneous menopause brings on all kinds of aches and pains. I bet you caught this tumor early and perhaps since it is grade 3 chemo or rads or an agressive treatment that you choose will take care of it.

    I´m so sorry to hear what you´re going through. the stress of not knowing in some ways can be worse than knowing. 

    I would agree with your radiologist´s suggestion for a sonogram. MRI's may be better by themselves in showing what is going on, but when they are not conclusive another test can sometimes give the missing information that helps to point to the right interpretation. Sonograms are cheap and non-invasive, so why not? More information can´t hurt.

    I know it´s a tough moment but hang in there.

    Hi Shejoh,

    I was perusing the boards, deciding whether or not to post a "concern" question, and came upon your post.  First of all, I am so very sorry you are going thru this stress yet again.  I'm sure you have fear, but from what you are saying, you are on top of this and will be taking an aggressive approach to putting this to rest asap.  I will pray that you're further testing shows that there is NOTHING to worry about.

     Interestingly enough, I was diagnosed very similarly to you, but back in May (2009).   I was IDC, 1cm (actually, three smaller areas (3mm, 3mm and 6mm) that they added up to 1cm), Grade 3, ER/PR + and Her2 neg. No nodes.  My Oncotype DX score was low, a 12, so dr's recommended I NOT do chemo, but rather treat aggressively with Tamoxifen and Zolodex.  (and possibly zometa, but I havn't started that yet.)   It was in my left breast, in the tissue very close to my chest wall.   I had a double mastectomy after a lumpectomy failed to achieve clean margins.  Three weeks ago I had reconstructive surgery with silicone implants.  

     My concern is that I have been having a nagging "aching" in my left breast.   It's weird, it almost feels like the pain I had AFTER my lumpectomy.. It's been going on for a few months, and at first I just figured it was aching from the expanders, but now I 'm starting to worry that there may be something else going on.... Obviously, my fear is that there is a recurrence in the breast, like a tumor on the chest wall or something.  

     I have always been concerned that I did neither radiation OR chemo.  I went to three Oncologists (my primary being at Sloan Kettering) and everyone agreed to no chemo, even though I was practically begging for it.  Did you do chemo ?

    Regarding my new mass in MRI...my Breast Surgeon ordered to do MRI guided biopsy..I went to do it today..but I had stopped aspirin just 4 days ago. so he didn't do the biopsy. Radiologist said that it is very difficult to do my MRI guided biopsy as the position of the tumour is very close to heart and towards the middle of the chest..so he tried to look at the tumour though ultrasound, but wasn't clearly  visible. he said he will do ultrasound guided biopsy anyway even if the image is not very clear...then put a marker there and send me for an MRI to see whether biopsy is done at the same site...if that's not successful they will have to do open biopsy ( cut open part of reconstructed breast and take the entire tumour out..)..

    radiologist does think it is a tumour and not a fat necrosis...meanwhile my hip still hurts a lot...after I get this report i will check the hip...i guess one step at a time...remember me in your prayers...

    Thank you for your wishes..your cancer is same as mine...I am receiving the same exact treatment you are receiving...Docs follow the data from research...most of the time it works..sometimes it doesn't...My Oncologist told that a very few of his patients with same regimen did get cancer back...but he said 98% dont get it back..

     but oncologist did offer me chemo if I wanted it...but he said it would give 3% benefits...

    the pain could be very much fro expanders too..did you check whether any capsule formed  around the expanders?


    Diagnosis: 1/28/2009, IDC, 1cm, Stage I, Grade 3, 0/13 nodes, ER+/PR+, HER2-

    I had an ultrasound guided biopsy today..the radiologist thinks it is a lymph node with a mass...another 3-4 days i will get the report back...keeping the fingers cossed....

     I had my biopsy ultrasound guided, the report came back just fat tissue...BUT now they think they did not get the tissue from the right place,,they are suggesting MRI guided biopsy...(initially MRI guided biopsy was ordered but they didnt do it saying the tumour is too close to the heart, and MRI guided biopsy is more clearer but difficult to do it)..if that is  unsuccessful then surgical removal of the tumour is the only option. I cannot imagine they cutting through the tram flap...!!!

    Meanwhile I had HIP MRI...which shows ENCHONDROMA( cartilage benign tumour) That's what the radiologist think...my hip still hurts...oncologist has given me steroids to take...lets see how that works...
