Hi Everyone,
It's a day to celebrate - it's our 30 year anniversary! I can't believe it! Flowers and candy just like year 1. Guess I made a good decision there with my husband selection!
Jeannine, I know you'll feel better each day and I'm so glad.
Corinne, singing again! Wow - I would love to hear that!! Good for you!
Deanna, I loved it that you enjoyed this year's rodeo and certainly know how it feels compared to last year. Amazing change in my emotions, too - this survival thing is great!
Misty, I'm still celebrating your good mammo. Will let yo know about mine soon.
Deen, thinking of out sunny river day as I put another log on the fire - yes, even in the desert! And please put your pretty picture up on avatar space - miss seeing you!
Hugs to all,
Gail

Good morning!
Deanna: I'm happy your trip to the LV was great. You are so right. Having bc changes truly for the better. We see life much more differently. Money and trivial things aren't that important! (I try to tell my DM this, but she's hard headed). Amen that everything is clear! So complicating about tissue vs. implant. I think they should do the other side just to be sure.
Corrine: Gee I wish I could have been there for your solo! Amazing. You truly are incredible Corrine. I'm happy your lymphadema is gone. (I was worried about this but surgeon told me he was going to be careful..let's hope!) So far okay.
Surgeon cut my drains on Tues. Now I'm swelling up. More on left side. Let's pray not too many nodes were positive but I know a few were. Dr. said if all goes well, I can still do reconstruction. Yea! Thursday they remove my staples..ouch. I also ordered my foam falsies. I should receive them by the weekend. Being flat chested accents my tummy : 0 But I feel so much better and truly healed. I've also been over doing it at home but I'm going nuts. (Now I know how you felt Corrine
Have a blessed week all.

I'm so happy to hear all the good mammograms and everyone recovering well from their surgeries. Corrine - You should make sure your doctors know your reaction to the anesthesia. It sounds like thay may have given you too much...you are such a tiny thing they should have scaled back the amount.
I'm also in the bisphosphonate clinical trial and am on the clodronate arm. I saw my onc on Monday who just got back from the BC Symposium in San Antonio and he had nothing but postitves to say about it --- "It reduces recurrence by 30%". I've been on it for a year now and am not having any SE's.
30 YEARS for Gail! Yeahhhhh!!!! That's fantastic! You don't look any older than that in your picture!
-
Congratulations, Gail! What a momentous occasion.
Jeannine, glad you are recovering from surgery. I am so glad you are rid of them!! Who needs them!
Corinne, loved hearing about your solo. You have battled back and won!
Has anyone heard how Tom is doing. I bet the holidays are going to be pretty tough for him this year.

Heard from Lisa. She had expanders put in on the 8th. She is still in alot of pain and could use your prayers.
Jeannine is hanging in there. She is awaiting her path reports.
I also need prayers. The dr told me that I am doing too much and need to do nothing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We need to get the drains out. The more I do the more likely of infection. He was not happy that I was on the treadmil last night!!! I was hoping to rebuild my strength!! I am scared for the cancer to come back.
-
Good morning!
Congratulations to Gail on your 30th! How wonderful, I hope mine lasts forever, too!
Jeaninne, I'm praying for good results for you! Hope you are feeling better, try not to overdo it.
Corinne, take it easy! You'll be back to it soon enough.
Joyce, I'm on Zometa, and my onc is very enthusiastic about the lowering of recurrence, too. I hope yours goes well.
Lisa, I'm praying for you to get better soon. Those expanders can make you really sore for a while, but it gets better. Take a pain pill before each fill, it helps.
Misty, I'm saying a prayer for Tom right now:)
Have a great weekend,
Deen

Hi Everyone,
Guess everyone's busy these days but I wanted to share the news - I'm also a member of the CLEAN MAMMO club - how wonderful to get a good report. They did a mammo on both sides and an ultra sound. Also bone density which is not back yet. I'm interested to see if my onc. suggests Zometa which she has for some of her other patients.
Also interested in what anyone on Arimidex is paying - I'm looking for cheaper drug plan and see the cost is all over the map. Appreciate any info on that.
A wonderful holiday week to you all - everyone is in my prayers,
Gail
-
Hi Gail,
Congrats on clean mammo!!!:) Good luck on your bone density test, too!
The cost of Arimidex is 360.00 a month! I have a friend who has to pay full price because of no ins., but she is helped by a place called the Rose in Houston. My ins pays for it 100% after my very high deductible is met, so I will find out next month what the copay is for it. On their website it says they will help with copays, too.
I go in today for my Zometa IV and bloodwork. My chemo nurse wants to put a port in my arm, but I don't know about that because of chance of lymphedema, I'll ask my onc. about that and this pain in my upper arm muscles that is getting worse. I hate how old this stuff is making me before my time!
I hope everyone has a Merry Christmas!

I appreciate all of you and all the support you all have given me when I needed it!!!!!!!! Loves to all............................

Yeah, Gail!!! I love hearing this good news.
I have been off school because of the 20 inches of snow from the weekend. UGH! Hope I am back tomorrow for one day before winter break officially begins on Thursday. I hope everyone has a wonderful holiday season with their loved ones.

Hello everyone,
Unfortunately I have very somber news..I am now Stage IV. I didn't read my report thoroughly until today. My tumor was very large (4 cms) and in the skeletal muscle. Dr. did state he got 98% out but that 2%.. I had 5 postive nodes in the left axilla and 2 in the right. No tumor in the left breast though and bc is localized but very aggressive like a brush fire. I am in a daze and in shock. Surgeon ticked me off stating "Patient generated results" on Path report. Like this was my fault? They recommended lumpectomy prior to gene results. Not I.
There will definitely be more chemo and I believe the PARP trial would benefit me the most. Radiation too may be simultaneous. My Onc. is awaiting recommendation from UCLA Onc.
I can't bear to tell my family (especially my folks)..especially now.
Please keep me in prayers dear sisters. I'm in need of a miracle!
I so wanted to be part of the clear mammo club..
God Bless,
Jeannine

Jeannine - PRAYERS AND HUGS COMING YOUR WAY..................... Love you!!!
-
Jeannine, You are being lifted up in my prayers as I type! You know we are all here for you & will surround you in love & prayers! Miracles do happen! Yes, the Holidays are a hard time to tell your family, but I'm sure they will suspect something and would want to know. Feel free to contact me anytime and I am happy to send you my number when ever you need someone to talk! XOXOXOXOXO
-
Jeannine ~ I am also lifting you up in prayer. This is so crazy, and it doesn't help not to understand several things about your pathology report. Not sure what "patient generated results" means, but surely they're not saying it's your fault! And has your surgeon explained why he wasn't able to get that additional 2%?
I absolutely believe in miracles. And I also believe in knowledge and finding the best doctors for your current situation, and integrative medicine. In fact, there is a presentation @ UCLA on January 12 (evening) I would love you to come to. David Servan-Schreiber, M.D., Ph.D., a 2x cancer-survivor and author of Anti-Cancer, A Way Of Life, is speaking. I'll PM you about it after the holidays.
In the mean time, know that I am praying for you, and please call me if you want to talk. Deanna
-
Jeannine, thinking about you at such a trying time. You are such a strong woman. I know how hard this must be to hear that news and then worry about telling your family. I am going to hope that a MIRACLE will come your way. You are loved by all of us. Please let us be your sounding board for now. You are always in my thoughts.
~Misty
-
Oh, Jeannine, you are a tiger and will get through this. What a time to deal with this - but telling your family will relieve some of the stress. I know. Then you can concentrate of getting into the action you need to handle this. You are so loved and we are with you.
Be strong sister, sending you much love,
Gail
-
Jeaninne, I hated hearing this news. You have always had such a strong spirit, and that will get you through this now. I am praying hard for you now and will continue to. Please share this burden with your family, so that they can help you through it. The PARP trials sound encouraging.
I am wondering why your onc didn't discuss this thoroughly with you so that you would understand you path properly? It is so important that he/she communicate well with you so that you can choose the best treatment possible. I know you are tired of all this bull, but I know you are strong in faith. Please keep us updated and let us help you any way we can.
Sending {{{HUGS}}}

Merry Christmas and Praise God!
I am feeling much stronger and faithful today (My new phrase,,"Live by Faith). The last 2 days, when I woke up ..my immediate thought "You're now Stage IV".. Many of the women here have told me it is NOT an immediate death sentence. I can walk, talk, dance and do laundry. I vow now to Live each day! I know the Lord has a plan for me, and it's indeed not over.Miracles do happen and I aim to be one.
Deen & Deana: I only spoke briefly with my Onc. (on phone) because I got the report from the Nurse PA at surgeons office. I think she made a copy of the page that I wasn't supposed to receive. That comment bothers me but I think was made for liability purposes. I see the surgeon on Monday and my Onc. on Wed. She is communicating with the UCLA Dr. for next Treatment plan, but MY plan is to get into the PARP trial because I know that is probably the best chemo plan for me now. I just pray I can get into the trial and not be in the control group.
Deen: I can not tell my family now (especially today)...I can't even tell my husband. I just can't. It would kill my mom. When the time is right I will reveal.
Deana: That seminar sounds very interesting. I'm going to try and attend! Dr. said I may be starting RADS soon too so I'll see. Thank you.
Thank you all for your loving support! I wouldn't be able to get through this journey without each of you. Like Bette has said, "Don't postpone joy".
Wishing all of you a blessed and Merry Christmas.
God Bless.
Jeannine

Hi all, I hope you had a wonderful Christmas. I am not gaining since my surgery too rapidly!! I finally got the last drain out. I am still quite uncomfortable and am hoping that week 4-5 will be a gain week for me/ I have not driven yet and the dr said that he I may have to wait a week or two.
Jeannine: You are loved and we are praying daily that the Lord who is the GREAT physician will do GREAT miracles in your life.
My computer had malware viruses and we just could not get them off. Guess what else I got for Christmas??? My new computer is now the fastest one in the house!! Thank you, Lord.
So happy to hear how many of you have had clean mammo's., I am not getting one until I heal. Going to my onc on the 14th. I hope to be able to start the neratinib trial sometime after all my tests.
To all, I love you and hug each one of you from God and me!!
-
Jeannine I am still saying prayers for you daily!!!! Remain strong! We are all here for you....Well gals my Gram is not supposed to make it through this week........It was a rough Christmas. I went to see her - had a WONDERFUL talk with her and said what I wanted and needed to say to her. Just hard to have to let her go but as as long as she doesn't suffer I am at peace....Hope everyone had a WONDERFUL Christmas!!!! Loves to all...................
-
Alibug: I am so sorry about your Grandmother. I had my 2 which I love and miss dearly. I am happy you were able to spend precious time with her this Christmas. I will pray for you both too.
Thank you all for your beautiful prayers and sentiments. I had a suprisingly great X-mas. I woke up X-mas eve, renewed, rejoiced and uplifted. I have been feeling great ever since. Incredible how the Lord works huh? Went back to work yesterday. I had a little debate with my surgeon yesterday to question him on that comment in my Path. He didn't have that page but believes the RADS hurt my prognosis. I have to be thankful that they were able to remove my huge tumor. It could have been inoperable. I'm healing well. I also received a call from UCLA Dr. Very good chance I may get into the PARP trial. After further thought, both Dr. & I believe this is the best TX for me now. 2 - 1 odds that I'll receive the PARP drug. It's to start in a few weeks. (Probably right before my b-day party but oh well) I may also start RADS soon. Seeing Dr. tomorrow. I can't receive Carbo & Gem chemo or I'll be disqualified for trial. So let's hope for the best!
2010 is going to be a promising year for us all. I just know it!
Have a blessed week! God Bless.
Jeannine
-
Jeannine, great news about the good possibility of you doing the PARP trial. The sooner it starts, the better! What kind of rads would you do? Stay strong.
Ali, sorry about your grandmother. I am glad that you have had such precious time with her.
To all, a new year is right around the corner. May it be the best one yet!
~Misty
-
Jeannin, I'm so glad you were able to be uplifted by the Holy Spirit and were able to enjoy the Christmas Season. I am still praying that you receive His miracle. God Bless!
-
I just want to wish all my breast cancer sisters out there a Happy New Year!!!! I love you all.........
-
Happy New Year's sweet sisters! Life has been busy here in VA, but I have been keeping up with most everyone on facebook. I am up for a visit with anyone who wants to meet in DC/Baltimore this spring! That would be fantastic! Jeannine, you are in my prayers constantly! And sweet, Bette, I know you are watching over us!
Took the family to NYC for Christmas as we were unable to make it back to family in TX. We had a wonderful time! Saw my new onco at Washington Hospital Center. Loved him! He did say I have been on Tamoxifen too long to qualify for the biophosphonate trial. While chatting with Joyce on fb tonight we discovered that we were both at the same Dr., on the same day, with appointments 1 hour apart! We probably passed each other and didn't know it!!
Blessings and wishes for a bright, promising and healthy New Year!
Hugs and prayers,
Stacy

Happy New Years to all you wonderful warriors! I can't say how much you all have helped me through the last year. Thank you all! Here's to a better one this year for everyone!
Love, Deen

Happy 2010 and it's also my 43rd birthday today..yes. I am so happy and blessed to celebrate another year (& wrinkle) DH took me out for breakfast today and my great folks are taking me out to dinner. Too much food today but tomorrow back on track!
I have a busy week coming up. I find out tomorrow when PARP begins and meet with the RADS Dr. on Wed. I'm feeling well, like my old self. My hair is growing again but my eyelashes are gone. Last time I wore false eyelashes I was alergic to the glue. Oh well..
I wish you all a great 2010. I thank each of you for your sisterhood and fellowship.
God Bless,
-
Hi all and Happy New Year!! What a year we have all been through. Jeannine, I love you and am praying for you girl. Happy Birthday!!
Stacy: I am going to FL ...I think in April and we are thinking of stopping at my daughters in Baltimore. Perhaps we could meet. Not fully sure we are doing that it depends on my health and our money situation.
Lisa: How are you doing? We are thinking and praying for you dear sister.
I got to drive this week!! Twice. I am 5 and a half weeks out. I still need to get both ports out and do revisions. NOT looking forward to that. Waiting on the dr's schedule.
-
Hi everyone! Hope you're all staying warm!
Just wondering if anyone has any New Year resolutions?
DH and I are going to start trying to cook more at home and eating better. I know my health depends on it greatly. I'm looking at shelters for a dog that I can take so I can do more hiking. I've been enjoying it, but I'd feel better if I had a companion with me for security.
Also this year DH and I are going to take some trips on the motorcycle, since I am feeling better and can do that now. We'd like to see Big Bend and do some rough camping, see some more of our state, etc.
My grandbaby is due in April, and I'm going to be the best grandma I can be!:) I'm so excited!
Corinne, Lisa, and Jeaninne, sending healing vibes your way!
Hope everyone has a great week,
Deen
