edited June 2014 in Stage I Breast Cancer

Hi ladies,

i am nearly finished treatment, had operation last may and chemo tc and then radiation 33 goes and am still on avastin as part of a tripble negative trial, 9 done 8 to go, every 3 weeks by iv till next June. i am not sure of my stage as tumour was larger than 8cm but grew on chest wall, no node envolvement, i was very very lucky, scans showed nodes envolved but pathology showed node negative but was on the move.

now for my question, i want to use donor eggs to get pregnant, did any of ye go down that road and if so what was the result, i turned 36 in november and was already infertile before this, had all the tests etc. and even did a "Holy Mary" ivf in 2008. Trying for a child since i was 32. The infertility hurts a lot more than the bc. My dh cant beleive i think like that but it is true. i had a modified radical mascetomy with and extra large scar to get clearance but am doing very well. At the hospital the other day the heart specialist asked me was it May this year or last year that i had the operation as i looked so well. Helped by the fact i have hair back again.

Ann Jillian was diagnosed with cancer many years ago.  You may not know of her because you are so young but she was known as a sexy actress much like Suzanne Somers.  She found a lump in one breast and before her surgey she found a cancerous lump in her other breast.  She had both breast removed.  I'm not sure how much later or how she did it but she had a baby after her treatment.  You might want to google her to get the whole story.  She now does motivational speaking.  I believe it was in the late 80s and she got lots of flack from her doctors about getting pregnant but did it anyway.

    Hugs.

    Thanks rreynolds and sdstarfish,

I looked up that actress, and i asked the liasion nurse on using donor eggs and she said to ask the oncologist when i am finishing my treatment but if he does say it is o.k they would recommend wait the two years from the end of treatment which will be next june please god.

they seem to regard ovarian stimulation as a very bad thing, but i explained that my ovaries would not be stimulated, i would just need estrogen and progesterone shots (tablets) and possibly steroids to supress my own immune system, till the 12 week mark, with the help of god getting that far.
