Shara,,I love ya....you have the best attitude and I presume a lot of patients..What ever you decide to wear I am sure you will be glamorous and beautiful..
Perhaps they will mess up and you will get a margarita...you must think positive.
-
BrendaSharon - love your new Avatar we look like sisters
-
Shar - I love your posts, you are hilarious. A friend gave me a book to read when I started chemo, I think the humour might be right down your alley. Its called Cancer Vixen. Get a copy if you can.
I've just come home from tx #2. This one is already hitting me a bit harder than the first. Is it possible that my mouth already tastes like metal?!! I'm dizzy and tired - welcome to the club, right?
On a non-bc related topic, I found out today that while the computer geeks were transferring data from my old laptop to my new desktop computer, my hard drive crashed and I've lost everything! Guess who the idiot is who did not have anything backed up. Eight years of photos of my children and our lives, plus all the other files (that mean nothing to me in comparison) gone. They've sent it off to a specialist in data retrieval, but I am not holding out a lot of hope. I'm totally devastated. Gals... backup your photos!!!!
-
Last A/C TX was today!!! yippee!!! And no surprises, reactions, etc. Just have major chem-brain now. and am having to re-type the post that I just lost to an Internet freeze up. @#$%%$#
TX took 4 hrs. and 15 min. Longer because the chem nurse checked the swelling over my rib due to the pulled muscle from last week. I also might be getting a UTI, so she took a sample and will let me know tomorrow or Thursday. She also went over the meds schedule for the Taxol. Only Decadron and Zofran (new to me). I hope all you Warriors remember to take the Decadron with food. And the best part is NO MORE INJECTIONS!!!
BrendaShar: I start my Taxol TX on Dec. 29 and for 7 Tuesdays after that. (Will have a checkup right before the 3rd one, and they will help me get the ball rolling to get the port removed by the surgeon and to get a consult with radiological onc. I am def. getting radiation for 5-6 weeks, 5 days each week after the chemo.) Thank you for getting those smileys up so soon. And you are rocking that bald head look!
SharaD: I laughed out loud while reading you post. Very funny.
mabelle: Sorry you lost everything on the computer. I hope you will be able to retrieve all of it.
To bed before the brain fog causes me to burn the house down, or worse. Now, if I can only find my bed. nite nite. Nette

Just posted a new photo of me minus my hair...how weird!

Hi girls, Loving the brave bald pics, your all beautiful warriors !
TX #4 is kicking my butt already and my worst days are usually towards the end of the week. I am up and about getting the kids off to school, making breakfast, I get in the shower and dressed all to head back in the bed. ugh ~
I hope everyone is feeling ok and has a day full of minimal SE's.
Hugs to all !
Alicia

Number 3 is out of the way. 3 down; 1 to go, then 12 THZ tx. I cried all the way to the car and cried when they were putting the port in. After that, I was fine. I like my early morn appts. when I don't have to think what is coming. I go on the 29th for my next one. Can I go at 6 a.m.?
I feel pretty good! Just a little tired. Ativan does it's job, for sure. I could have slept till noon. Now if I could only sleep tonight from the steroid hight!!
Brenda & Sherri; Love the avatars!! Warrior Braveness!
Nette & Alicia: Congratulations on last AC!!!!! Keep us informed on the Taxol.
Mabelle: I too had the funky metal taste after round 2, but about a week later btwn treatments it eased up. i'm sorry about your computer. Sometimes a computer has an instant back up drive (drive D). If you are able to get the computer up, it may have saved it. Keeping my fingers crossed!
For the ladies who have finished AC, you are the light into which we glow. You are the pioneers that clear the path. Some of us are almost beside you while some are just now finding their way. I am holding all of your hands and giving big hugs (((HUGS))).

Good Morning all you Beautiful Warrior Ladies!
I've been busy past few days but I've thought of you all every day (several times a day!) and hope everyone is okay. (in the new meaning of okay we all have). We had Christmas dinner on Sunday at my niece's house, my family was worried I would skip out on them on Christmas Day since I'm scheduled for chem on Dec. 17th. I only bought presents for my son and two littlest nieces....everyone else got money in the Christmas Card. Even the quick trip to the store to get those presents was overwhelming. I feel so thankful to be doing things but I can't seem to enjoy them for feeling tired and just so-not-myself. I have read all the posts and am up-to-date....you all are the greatest! I always alternate between laughing and crying when I read...sometimes both at the same time! I still wash my head with the same shampoo just less of it...the funny thing to me is that I still wrap the towel around my head after the shower!!! Just can't NOT do it!! When I look in the mirror, I find myself thinking about how I look like I always did and try to pretend there's still hair there. Then the towel slides off while I'm putting my lotion on and the gig is up....oh well!! My head actually got a little dry too, so I used that Neutrogena exfoliating face wash on it to and boy did it help!
I went to my son's homecoming basketball game Monday nite....got very tired, but oh so worth it!! I find myself crying most when it is something to do with him...I looked really silly I'm sure, sitting there sniffling and blinking, but he was so handsome escorting his little girlfriend. I'm just glad it was a day that I could go...the first week and a half after chemo I'm useless/worthless and couldn't do anything even if I wanted to.
Mabelle, I loved your party story and SharaD, you could write a book you're so creative!! And Alicia, I loved the stay-at-home in the pjs idea....my son is so busy with basketball practice and games, I can't wait for week-ends when I get to be with him and catch up. His Christmas break starts Friday, so I hope I'm able to enjoy the next few weeks some. My DH will be taking me to my #3 chemo Thursday, his first trip. I think he is dreading actually seeing the whole process, but it's so routine already to me. They always bring both my TX bags at the same time...one nurse reads the bag desciption and the other verifys my chart entry and my wristband ID. Last time I had the lab people put the IV in for blood draw and leave it so I wouldn't have to just go downstairs and get a second stick for the TX. I, too had a vein blow with 1st TX and I didn't want to go through that again...first TX IV was put in the back of my hand and that hurt!
2nd TX, I was waiting at the reception desk for my co-pay receipt and the lady was writing Evelyn...I said "that's not my name" and she said "Oh, sorry, I was looking at my computer screen and not your chart". Well, when I got downstairs, the nurse said "Hi, Evelyn, as soon as we get your labs, I'll have a chair for you.".....uuuhhhhh, "I'm NOT Evelyn!!" "Oh, sorry, they just called from upstairs and said Evelyn was on her way down!" Well, then a few minutes later, the nurse came out laughing and said "I'm so sorry, but your labs came in just after EVELYN'S and we put her in YOUR chair, but we should have another one real soon!!" Well, DAMN-IT!!! I never did SEE this Evelyn, but she better not EVEN be there Thursday...she does NOT want to mess with me!! DH has got to get back in time for son's Bball game this week and I will not be in the mood to be NICE!!!
Does anyone have alot of eye-watering? I noticed last week my right eye was watering and then I noticed a nerve twitch in right eye-lid.....this was on Tuesday and I still have both symptoms in right eye. Left eye waters some but not like right and no nerve twitching....weird.
My MIL surgery is scheduled for Dec 30th....will be a big surgery...please continue to pray!! I appreciate it so much!!! LittleBird, glad you are doing better!! And Alicia, I'm praying for you and your family......Love to all!!!
-
Psalm121,
I myself do not experience the eye watering nor twitching, but my mother-in-law went through this about a year ago. She was on the same cocktail as you and she too had the same problem with her eyes watering and twitching. She is doing quite awesome now and is a TRUE survivior~She had a her chemo, then her surgery. Mine is different than hers and I had 2 surgery's, now chemo then get rads at the end of it all.
On a HAPPY note I'm glad you got to enjoy some of your sons game. My son's are my heart and I would be lost without them, (even if they are all grown up). Good Luck with tomorrow and know at least MAYBE you will somewhat feel better for Christmas and the New Years!
P.S. Just think after tomorrow only 1 more to go!!
(((((WARM HUGS)))))

Thanks for checking in, Evelyn...glad you could make it to your son's homecoming game. Hi Brenda, are you ready to conquer the world today?
Good morning everyone, 6am and I'm just about to hit the sack, been up on a Decadron high all night. Cleaned the fridge, fixed a lampshade and waxed the floor. Called my ex at 3:30am and told him if I don't get the child support check soon, I'm gonna drop clumps of hair all over his front porch and pee a big brown circle on his front lawn. (Did you know that our pee can take out a flower garden in two minutes flat? Just another handy dandy chemo tip from Shara! Next week: how to use your bad breath to move quickly ahead in the supermarket line.)
My 3rd TX went okay, I had to wait two whole hours while they got things straight but once they got everything cleared up it went more smoothly than the first two. My White Blood Cells went from 3.6 last week to 5.8 this week, so I guess the bloody marys for breakfast and the margaritas for lunch are doing their job. I think I'll start adding a bottle of Merlot at dinnertime and REALLY start to set their statistics on fire. You can expect to see it soon in the medical journals, "women with well-stocked liquor cabinets have better prognosis per Mayo Clinic".
Hope everyone has a good Wednesday! -
Good morning all. Had 3rd tx yesterday. And of course here's the headache. Onc doc is sending me for brain mri today because he's concerned -- not that I get the headaches (that pretty much a given with cytoxan) he's concerned that they last almost the whole 2 weeks until the next tx. And I'm having some vision problems. I know it's the stinking cytoxan - I never had headaches until the 1st cytoxan tx. After the mri I'm off to go get my Neulasta shot. Found out yesterday from the onc that I do not have to do Neulasta when I start Taxol. YEAH. I've started, in the last few days, with my left ankle collapsing on me. I have to careful because a couple of times I almost hit the floor. Everytime you turn around it's something different. Just one more AC on the 29th - one more Neulasta on the 30th. Then bring on the Taxol. Just make this freaking headache go away!!! When I get home today I'm going to let the Vicodan take me away for a nice (long, I hope) nap.
-
Hi Boxer Sue....are you taking Emend or Zofran? They both cause headaches, especially the Zofran. On the Zofran site it says "to prevent Zofran headaches, get plenty of restful sleep". Yeah, right, like that's gonna happen!
Good luck with the MRI...it's great that your doc is being thorough, and a clean MRI result will give you some peace of mind. -
SharaD~~~~~
LMAO~The funniest one yet~~~~
You are truely a HOOTE
Too dang funny, the bad breath thing, I guess you are right though, I even noticed my own, ugh~~
Rest well sweet warrior~
BoxerSue, So sorry!
I was hoping just maybe you would not have the headache this go round. BUT like you the Cytoxin gives me one every time! My eyes and head even hurt from the light, I have to wear
sunglasses and keep all noise levels down~ I never had any migranes untill after my TX. I was sent for a brain MRI also because of the headaches and because I was dizzy (vertigo). Crap they waste more money on CRAP. They said they do it just to rule out brain mets. I guess better safe than sorry. YOU will be FINE!!! BUT then when we really seem to need or request something, they can't do it for us. CRAP I'm just now getting my first ECHO, Whoops nobody noticed I hadn't had one yet.
(even though I mentioned it, who am I?)
-
SharaD: You crack me up!! (sounds really 70's doesn't it, I said "you turkey" to my son one day and he said "what kind of stupid 70's saying is that?) My husband had to check on me I was laughiing out loud so much!!! Chemo-breath, indeed!! I brush my teeth and tongue so much, it's no wonder my mouth is sore...!!! Hadn't thought of the holistic liquor treatment method but damn I sure have been wanting a beer!! Have you ever read Janet Evanovich's, Stepanie Plum bounty hunter novel series? That's who you remind me of...she has these hilarious, random thoughts.....that's a compliment!!! Write 'em down and publish!!!!
BrendaSharon, thanks for the well wishes and warm hugs...you're a special lady and we're very fortunate to have you!!! Didn' know Zofran causes headaches....hhmmm!!
Love, Evelyn
-
Shara D
Yes, you may have hit on something. They drip zofran before they start the chemo along with a steroid plus I do take Emend.
BrendaSharon
Sounds like you and I are headache girlfriends. My eyes and ears are also very sensitive. Getting some weird eye xyloscope sort of things. When they happen I have to lay in a quiet dark room with eyes shut for about 1/2 hour and they finally go away. You're right, I'm sure this is a big waste of money but I do like the fact that he is being proactive.
-
I take Zofran, but don't get the headaches from that. Mine are sinus headaches, but they only last a few days I think from the Cytoxin. We went to an hour, and that was a lot better.
I forgot to mention, he did take me off of the Reglan. It made me soooo tired and hyped up to the point where I couldn't function. He is switching me to Compazine. I know some of you ladies use that. Does it work for you? How do yout take it?...I was told as needed. And, does it cause you to want to drop over?
Thanks! Congrats Boxer Sue. You and I are ALMOST at the finish line. You make me happing knowing no Neulasta!!!!
Ladies: My eyes water like crazy. As soon as I leave the house, the waterworks open. I can barely drive at times. It's just a rxn.
Shara: You are so funny!!! Unfortunately, I don't get that steroid high. I get steroid breakdown
-
Mabell. oh that sucks about your computer...we back up our pics every couple of months and put on two discs. One we keep here and one at my DHs office.
Brenda,,,LOVE your new look...so sheek..you are beautiful. Rock that bald look.
Shara, I enjoy so much your posts...did you really call him at that time...oh the sweet revenge...keep us laughing...and pass me a margarita.
Boxer, I get a few headaches but nothing big..a Tylenol will take care of it..
I don't get watery eyes, but my eyes feel dry. Especially in stores, I guess because of the AC/heat. I looks like I am some strange bald chick, winking at the guys at Home Depot...I havn't managed to pick up any guys with that move...darn. Ah hell who needs another pain in the ass..
-
Hi Gals
Brenda and Sherri, I love your new pics.No headaches or eye watering for me... so far.Anyone else get a really flushed feeling in their face? I'm a bit rosier than normal too today. At least I look good!Hubby and I just got back from a "quick" trip to costco. Only spent $250 - I think that's getting off easy for costco isn't it? We are totally crazy and are having an open house this Sunday - so needed to get food & supplies. I might regret this... but hopefully I'll be feeling well by then. Right now, all I need to do is go for a nice long nap!Shar - again, you've made me laugh. Laughed so hard I peed my pants. Of course, now they are disintegrating, so you owe me new pants.Have a good day all! -
Brenda: Have you totally lost all of your hair? Mine didn't all fall out so I have a fine grey fuzz which seems to be growing. DH reckons I'll need a new buzz cut done. Our daughter arrived from interstate last night for DH's father's funeral and she said I look like an angel with my fuzz. I guess the 2nd tx will get rid of the rest.
I get headaches too, I want a Brain MRI. How could they have missed doing an Echo on you. Lucky they finally noticed.
mabelle: I'm getting hot flushes all the time probably owing to going cold turkey on HRT but I can feel a connection to the treamtent.
Also about your computer, consider investing in Acronis True Image for your new pc. It takes a complete image of your hard drive. I use an external drive to back it up every week or so. I have had to restore many many times and it saves installing windows and other software everytime. It was really inexpensive and works like a charm.

Hey there BWL's:
sitting here waiting on the 6:00 news...I'm in KY, but I figured if there's a bald, psycho chick peeing brown spots on her ex's yard it'll make local & national news.....be like one of those connection games....I KNOW HER!! SHE'S MY HERO!!
Just wondering, too....what's the hecks a "muggascan"? and do I want one? Don't wanna go back & check if I got that right, I'll lose my post.
Mabelle: I never did get another period since that Nov one....but i sure have been having hot flushes....at that homecoming game, I was worried I'd have a breakdown and more than that "cranial prosthesis" would come off!! Glad I thought to layer, but I was startin' to run out of layers!!
-
After 2nd TX day1-3 foggy but ok. Day3 neulasta needle. Day4-8 feel like, look like, smell like sh@#! Eyes watering so much it drips of the chin. So weak I could barely feed myself.
Yesterday developed groin heat rash that looks like someone has taken a hacksaw to me. Sick of everyone at home being hale & hearty.
BUT no bone pain!! I am so grateful for that.
Sneak a peak at the posts everyday but haven't been able to type til now.
GO GIRLS HOPING FOR A BETTER DAY TOMORROW!
-
Kay, keep building that strength, we want you to post...
Shara, didn't see you on the news so can assume your X didn't call the police...can't wait to get up tomorrow and read your next post...don't do anything we wouldn't do...Ah what the hell go crazy, we like to live through you...Whizz away...make us proud.
Night ladies

psalms,
Thanks for the advice on the ZOFRAN! I didn't use that yestereve, I used the COMPAZINE instead and my headaches did not seem quite as bad,, at least I can stand the sunlight.
I'm sure that,
BoxerSue will appreciate the info as well. I hope you are feeling better today. You are right proactive is good, I just get aggravated
with the system at times.
kayh,
I say yea, good morning girlfriend "WARRIOR" and HURRAY to NO BONE PAIN. Any one single thing less to deal with is wonderful for us!~The FOG not so bad to deal with. Just rest~
Suepen,
Girlfriend, You are an "ANGEL"
My hair well, not much of it. I have what we like to call little chicken feathers ~
When my 1st grandson started to get hair it was so cute he had these little feathery things going on top his head. It took a year just to see hair period. When it came in it reminded us of baby chickens. So, I called him my little chicken feathered friend. He's 14 now but he is still my chicken feathered friend~ and my heartIt's weird I did loose it in patches, it just wasn't all that noticeable because I shaved it all off the day of my first TX. My 80 year ole dad lives with me, he was funny. He thought my hair was growing back after TX#1, which it was, because the Chemo hadn't started to effect my hair yet. Then this past Sunday he commented on how much it grew. I pulled off my cap and wa lah ~ he freaked ~ it almost scared him ~ where did it go he EXCLAIMED. I told him that I finally really lost it. It took mine 21 days before I lost the majority. Now I just have a few sprigs of a feather here and there on top. We are The Bald and Beautiful!
Sound like one of my fave soaps ~

Hello girls I have been out of sorts this past week, my count were really low so had to cancel all christmas holiday parties and shopping stayed in bed all week and weekend. Cramed all shopping on Monday before last a/c tx. Wow I am so glad to be done with the RED DEVIL. Onc says Taxol doesnt affect blood counts so hopefully energy will come back. My eyes water as well onc. says because possibly losing lashes but I still have them??? Wishing you all a good day.
-
Good Morning Everyone,
I hope everyone is feeling OK today. I have my 2nd of 4 TC treatments on Tuesday. Merry Christmas to me. I have a question. Did anyone lose their eyebrows and eyelashes? I started losing my hair last weekend and ended up shaving it and now the stubbles are falling out. I just wanted to be prepared for what is to come.
Also, I have a Forever Young Wig that I am not using. It is Called Savvy if you want to look it up. It is blonde. If anyone needs a wig and would like it, please let me know and I will send it to you. It has never been worn.
Take Care,
Jennifer
-
mouse & jenniflower,
so good to hear from both of you!!!
Eyelashes & Eyebrows & Tears. Hmm'mmm I still have mine. I have notcied my eyebrows thinning a bit at the ends. but, I had VERY thick brows
, so who knows. My eyelashes I had hardly any to begin with, but I think I have the same amount of them left. I haven't had the eye watering problem, but I know someone else who did. My mother-in-law lost her brows and lashes and she also teared a lot. she also always had a runny nose. I have been fortunate not to have this problem,
jenniflower, what a generous offer, i wish i could stand something on my head but it is so sensitive i just can't take it nor the heat build up, i get VERY
HOT-HEADED.
mousse,
SORRY!!!~~
~~you had a rough week, but YEAH for being off that RED-DEVIL
to a better da for both
