Urgent Prayer Needed
I'm sorry, but this doesn't have anything to do with breast cancer, other than I feel my sisters here will understand and pray with me.
My 17-year-old niece is diabetic. She woke up yesterday morning very sick----vomiting, hard time breathing, etc. My sister took her to the local hospital and they have now taken her by ambulance to a hospital 2 hours north. She has been admitted into the Intensive Care Unit because of diabetic ketoacidosis, which, I believe, is very serious.
She was diagnosed as a diabetic several years ago. Please pray for her to take this disease serious and have a better understanding of the dangers that can be caused by being diabetic.
I'd sure appreciate all the positive prayers, thoughts and healing vibes going her way!! I feel better already just knowing you all will see this and keep her in your thoughts and prayers....Her name is Whitney.

Coonie , am here for you if you need.
Big hugs

prayers for your niece Whitney, May God's light shine down on her today and heal her!
My 9 year old is diabetic as well and it is a scary disease and a very hour to hour managment, I pray that she is guided by the holy spirit in caring for herself and choosing well each day.
God bless your family!

On Coonie, so very sorry. Sending prayers for you and Whitney. I am a diabetic also and it is a hard disease especially for younger people. Meds and diet have to be just perfectly matched. God bless and watch over and guide Whitney. Strenth, courage and wisdom. Please let her know we are all praying for her and sending hugs.
-
Ohhhhh you ladies are the best!!! I told my sister that prayers were being said all over the world. I'm going to copy this for her so she can show Whitney.
Whitney is still in ICU, but doing better. They're doing blood work pretty often and "may" get to a regular room this evening.
Your prayers are working! I know I can feel them, and I'm sure Whit can too. God bless you all!!!! Big HUUUUUGGGSSSS to everyone of you!!

Prayers from me also for Whitney and her medical team. I'm so pleased to hear that she is doing better.
Hugs to you Coonie.

Gentle hugs to Whitney and the 'Coonie' family.
Edit (sigh, as per usual)

Healing prayers going out to Whitney. My step-daughter was diagnosed at 11 years old as a Type 1 and we have also been through many scary times with her similar to Whitney's. She is now a mother with her own daughter and has finally managed to stay consistently under control. I pray that for Whitney too!

Coonie - Add my prayers for Whitney. This is an insidious disease that affects every part of the body. If you think the stuff I wrote below, show it to her; otherwise just FYI. You are such a loving aunt. Stay strong girlfriend.
For Whitney- not only are you putting your life in jeopardy by not controlling your blood sugars, you are setting yourself up for all kinds of complications down the road. I know it is not easy for you ... it is not easy for any of us with diabetes. You are at a time in your life where you should be carefree and you can be as long as your keep those sugars down. Its even harder to be different than the other kids but there it is and you have to deal with it or face serious health problems, now and in the future. Part of growing up is learning to accept things for the way they are not for how we would like to be. I know this sounds preachy and I don't want it to be Whitney but please, please take care of yourself. What you do now will affect the rest of your life. A few minutes a day, every day will keep you healthy and seriously reduce your risk of complications. There is plenty of information out there ... familiarize yourself - arm yourself to fight this and pray for a cure (just like bc!). Lots of hugs and love.

Kathleen, you might add that you're a diabetic!
-
Kathleen, what a beautiful message for Whitney.
-
Ohhh my goodness!!!! Thank ALL of you so much for your prayers!! The good Lord knows he must answer the prayers from the "sistahs".
I have wonderful news!!! Whitney is on her way home as we speak. I haven't talked to her, but will as soon as she's up to talking. I'm going to copy this thread and laminate it so she'll always have it to look back on. There's some great advice and encouragement that I just know she'll appreciate and put to good use.
Thank you all again. You ladies are absolutely THE BEST!!!!
I love you all!!!!!
-
Thank God Coonie!
He did all the work, but we got all the credit....
-
Whitney. We're all so grateful that you are able to go home from the hospital.
We will continue to keep you in our prayers.
Your auntie Coonie will remind us from time-to-time.
I can not being to imagine the challenges that you face with this illness. It's not fair and I'm sorry that you have to be watching things that others your age take completely for granted.
Know that we want only the best for you.
Unfortunately this disease is one with very serious consequences. It's not fair, but this planet isn't fair. It is forcing you to "grow up" sooner than you would wish, I bet.
You are not the only one that is 'different' and my prayer will be that you can begin to use that 'difference' as a sign of maturity and reach out to others who need your understanding, courage and experience.
I'm sorry that you've been sick. I hope that you can sort out all that has happened and do your best to follow the insight and advice given by your medical team.
We want only the best for you.
I'm so proud that you're learning to balance your life. We adults are still learning that: Balance. If you can learn it as a teenager -- your entire life will be better.
Sending prayers for your continued maturity and understanding as you grapple with this illness.
Keep us updated, Coonie.
We're always here for you, both.
