    Dear cp48,

Thank you for this article. My daughter Lori adds 1/2 teaspoon of organic ground turmeric root and a generous sprinkling of black pepper, and some olive oil to her carrot juice every day. I use the turmeric, black pepper and olive oil on my food every day. This was a recommendation In the book Anticancer a new Way of Life by David Servan-Schreiber. Now if all the conventional doctors will just read these findings!

Thanks for the article. However, why do they add:

The finding came with a warning, however. The compounds were tested only in a laboratory and not in people, and the researchers cautioned against anyone adding curcumin or piperine supplements to their diets.

at the end of the article! Don't add pepper to your diet?? Don't add turmeric?? These are spices that have been around for hundreds, perhaps thousands of years. They have been used in Indian cooking for that long.

    Dear deni,

I think they were referring to the piperine being extracted? I may be wrong. I too read that and thought...WTH? By adding the pepper to the Turmeric, it increases your body's ability to absorb it by 2000 %.

It is just funny. What is the danger? If you listen to a commercial on TV for a pharmaceutical drug, the list of side effects that they rattle off are worse than the condition you are taking it for in the first place! Insane! But, what is the danger with pepper, even if it is extracted?? Crazy how they are so afraid to say that something that is not a pharmaceutical can be effective!

I use both of them. I also started using a bit of clove every morning and the wierd thing is , is that it seems to have a positive affect on my energy. Can't explain that one.

Nan, you wrote: "My daughter Lori adds 1/2 teaspoon of organic ground turmeric root and a generous sprinkling of black pepper, and some olive oil to her carrot juice every day. I use the turmeric, black pepper and olive oil on my food every day"

Incredible! I am doing the exact same thing every day: I add organic ground turmeric root and black pepper with some olive oil to my poached organic eggs for breakfast.

And Deni, you wrote: "....the researchers cautioned against anyone adding curcumin or piperine supplements to their diets.....". Here, I find myself in the same situation as Crunchy, some time ago:

my jaw is on the floor.

I also take it every day.  I started when I read the book, "Anti Cancer".  I'm not concerned.

There's some spectre of fear that tumeric may inhibit the enzyme needed to metabolize tamoxifen.  Can't say its a fact, but there is research that says tumeric inhibits cyp2d6.

Deni, that's almost as hilarious as my ex-fertility doctor lambasting me for adding cinnamon to my diet because it wasn't FDA-approved!!!! ROFL!!!! Okay, I won't add herbs spices or use fruits or vegetables for that matter, in case they have medicinal value... since the FDA hasn't approved it, after all.........!!!!!!
