ILC & Tubular Carcinoma

Hi, I was dx recently with ILC and Tubular cancer. Does anyone know if it gets trickier having two different forms of cancer? I know Tubular is rare, however, is much less agressive. I found a lump in July, had a clean mammo in Jan, then had a repeat mammo in October and they found the mass, had an excisional biopsie which came back positive. The dr. did not get clean margins. I'm waiting on an MRI. My grade is II, stage 1 right now until I get my MRI and a sentinol node biopsie, mass they got out was 1.7cm. My question, does it make it more difficult to treat 2 forms?

That's what I thought, yeah we caught it early. MRI is scheduled on Sat. Thanks for the post. Hope all is well with you.

I also had a TL, which was caught early only b/c my doctor insisted on an MRI (I have a very strong family history of BC). I just started mammos last spring and my mass was not detected by mammo or sono, so I think an MRI is the way to go.
My doctor also said TL is a less aggressive type. I had a lumpectomy followed by rads and tamoxifen and overall it has not been difficult.
Good luck with the MRI and biopsy and I hope both come out clear.

This is what I don't understand. If ILC is not detected by mammo right away, and when this is all over the dr says they will monitor me closely, how are they planning on doing that??

I am having my first post surgery MRI for ILC next week. Why are they bothering with the mammos when they really aren't reliable for our kind of cancer? They say they will do a mammo every 6 months on the right side and once a year on the other. Should I be insisting on a 6 month MRI? It was found in an ultrasound not a mammo. The mammo pick up some density which alerted them to look further. I did have an MRI, CAT Scan and Bone Scan after my diagnosis.
Thanks.

My lump also lit up on MRI and I only had the MRI b/c my gyno and the radiologist both felt it was necessary given my very strong family history of early onset.

Here's my dilemma, my BS wants me to have a breast MRI now but the facility that has that machine has moved location and is not opening for 2 weeks, she does not want me to wait that long so I'm having an MRI here locally on a machine that's ok but not exactly what she wants. I know that the risk in not having a breast MRI is false positives, and if the results come back that way I will not have a mastectomy relying on those results! I'm going to put a call in to her and she's going to have to convince me that we're doing the right thing. Do you agree with me??

That's my thinking exactly, I don't know what the rush is but I will find out. Thanks for the advice I appreciate and it IS worth a lot to me!
