scar revision
Hi everyone,
Have just had a second opinion at the london Marsden re reucing my good breast. This was refused locally due to the skin mets on my mast scar.
The surgeon has asked me to speak to my onc at my next clinic appt (2 weeks ) as he would like to remove the skin mets and tidy my scar, provided onc doesn't feel this will make the mets progress.
Has anyone got any experience of this scar revision to remove mets? I understand that even if the onc does say yes the mets will return at some point in the future.

HI there.
I'm freaking out over these skin mets myself and hope this thread will catch on with others who have gone through this. I posted topics elsewhere but haven't heard on responce so I don't know how common this is. I'm on my second round of chemo now & the mets have appeared around my mast site regardless. Shouldn't the chemo be helping this or not? Onc said well we are hoping it is controlling the spread through the rest of the body but if it is reappearring then that seems unlikely.
A little info would be so greatly appreciated. Thanks.

HI ladies,
Had clinic appt with onc consultant this afternoon.
He agrees to the scar revision.
He says it will stop the bleeding and may increase the length of stability, however he also said the mets could return within 3 months and we could be starting again.
We don't know if the herceptin is keeping things stable or the aromasin. Eventually they would stop working and I would need further treatment one of which could have been a suggestion of scar revision. It is a small area which is why they have not suggested it themselves to date but he feels while I am asleep for my reduction I should have the two procedures.
I'm a little nervous (!), but really pleased about the reduction to my good side. Hoping to be a lot more comfortable.
Surgery is booked for the 26th Jan, so not too long a wait. Will keep in touch and let you know how things go.
Take Care,
Jackie x

Hi Jessica,
I am new to this site, my diagnosis is identical to yours and I am experiencing the skin mets now, I have not started any chemo yet for skin mets - My onco suggests to start on January 8 a combination of Xeloda and Gemtzar.
I would like to know if you have ever use any complement reatment along with chemo, if you do, what have you tried? Thank you very much.
Good luck to your next treatment.

Hello Kha,
No sorry I've never tried any other treatment for my mets.
I did try xeloda along with lapatinib but eventually there was some progression in the mets, so back to the herceptin now.
Do let us know how you get on in January.
Jackie x
