I'm supposed to have surgery on the healthy side on Monday 12/7, a "lift" so I'll be more symetrical with my mastectomy side recon, but I got a flu/cold after Thanksgiving and feel terrible.  So, I'd been calling the surgeon to say I felt badly and they wanted to still see me on Monday to see if I'll be good to go still.  Then, yesterday, I started having tenderness and pain in my healthy breast and a hardness under the nipple and redness on the skin to one side of the nipple, all new symptoms.   I sent an e-mail to my breast and plastic surgeons today, but I'm worried that they'll think I'm a bit nutty, but the symptom is real.  I'm feeling a bit freaked out.  I completed six months of chemo and radiation, had the big surgery, and now this worrisome symptom. I don't know if I can do more treatments.  -c

Wait until you see the doctor to find out what is going before assuming the worst.  And, yes, you CAN do whatever you have to do.  We are strong.  Read below my signature line for my cancer history.    I have been in nonstop treatment for 18 months with no break.  I still have another month of Xeloda and then will have surgery again in late January or early February.  I will also most likely stay on Tykerb forever.  It seems like I have been in treatment forever, but you know what?  I will do whatever it takes to stay alive for my three boys.  Be strong.  You can do whatever you must.  Keep us posted what you find out.  Good luck.

Thanks, Blondie45.   I am tougher than this damn disease.  Have to be!   We all do.

Princess -- focus on that little boy.  You're gonna get through this.  We'll all be right here with you!

Dear Faith, The breast inflammation subsided as I got over my flu, so weird, but such a relief.  So, I think it was "nothing" now, but am going to get it checked-out this coming week.  Thank you again!
