Vicki..you can do anything! Just get out there and do it...my DH and I took a short vacation to the beach...then spent a weekend here and there away...we have FUN!  I feel good too!  Don't push yourself but you will be so anxious to get back to whatever "normal" is...growing your hair, getting it colored..eating alot because you sooo hungry!

It is an adjustment though..kinda of weird not having someone watching you day after day after day!

    Hi Vicki,

Initially, I was relieved to be done the aggressive treatment phase...and spent a year just getting back into my usual routine...exercising, traveling, working, etc.

Recently have been having crying spells, worries about recurrence and trouble making long-term commitments. I am feeling anxious about mvoing forward. My onc. equates it to being a hurdler...you run and jump and run and jump...then when the race is over, you collapse. I collapsed last month. I reached the 18 months past dx date, and just lost it.

I considered talking to a counselor, but after talking things out with my onc., my husband and friends I feel much better.

Moving away from active treatment is scary, and we all react in our own unique ways...there is no right and wrong way.

    Sending hugs,

    Kathy

    Hi Viki,

i am not much ahead of you, i finished radiation on the 30th of October and am still on avastin every 3 weeks until next june as part of a trial. i am back at work 3 days a week till christmas but am looking forward to getting away next year for a few days, we are going to book it as our xmas pressie. well done on finishing your treatment but the area will be sore for a few weeks so no baths etc till it is completely healed or so they told me, it only took about two weeks to heal completely. i am going for a facial and massage next week as could not use anything for so long as since chemo i seem to be extra sensitive to everything.

    HI,

Thank you for all of your replay. I want to go travel after the treatment and forget about cancer for a while. And find a  job after i get back from the trip.

    Hi Vicki,

I think that sounds like a wonderful idea. Travel and then get back to working. Myself, I worked during tx, so when I was done with chemo and rads, I tried to get back to my exercise schedule, but boy was it tough. I was easily tired and winded. Even walking around a large store would make my feet hurt; so take it easy at first. Enjoy and congrats on almost being done with tx!

I worked through my treatments, too, so for me, I just went back to normal life routine. The only problem is...I thought about cancer from the moment I woke up to the moment I went to sleep. Once the treatment is over, you wonder "what next"? This is all normal, and we all go through it. I promise you, though, one day you are going to put cancer to the back of your mind and it will no longer invade your every waking moment, as I am sure it is doing now. Some days I don't think about it at all. Just start trying to put your life back together, little by little. Many blessings.

Do whatever "floats your boat".  I finished chemo & surgery (bil mastectomies) 1 year ago and finished radiation March 09.  I worked during treatments, but became tired sooner.  Still have problem with tolerance and takes me alittle bit longer to do general things like clean house, etc.  Hair has grown back (curly!!!!),  appitite is improving, but taste for some things have changed.  Just hang in there and take it one day at the time---
