edited June 2014 in Stage I Breast Cancer

Hi all !

I have been feeling very nervous lately that my cancer is back !!!. I finished chemo (4XTC) 8 weeks ago and started Tamoxifen 1 week ago. For the last week my boob has been bothering me, not hurting more like a funny sensation near the scar (Lumpectomy - SNB / no node involvement, clera margins). It's like I am aware of that part of my body all the time !!!

I also had intensive LCIS in that breast and am worried it now has turned to cancer again, is that possible so soon after chemo ????

Anyone else have these feelings ?

Marie

I am so sorry you are nervous.  I don't doubt the worry of recurrence ever leaves us...it hasn't left me.

ILC tends to be a slow growing tumor and my onco said if recurrence happens, it is usually 10+ years out.  Having said that, cancer is a crap shoot and no one really knows what can happen.

Call your doctor and see what they suggest.  Worrying only raises stress levels and doesn't get your answers.

I hope and pray all is well.

    Best to you!

totally normal-- and my surgeon told me that you can feel different sensations in your treated breast for up to 2 years--- LCIS does not turn into invasive cancer as best as I can tell---- the ILC you were treated for was the more critical and it sounds like you had the full treatment.

I think the worrying can be normal--- and talking to your doc about it makes sense.  Also remember, according to my onc, most people do NOT recur---- so for me, I have decided I will be one of those people.

It is normal to worry and you are still working on getting YOU back--it will happen and this will fade into the background----
