Whew. I think we can calm down now.

"Women should continue getting regular mammograms starting at age 40, Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius said Wednesday, moving to douse confusion caused by a task-force recommendation two days earlier."

Except that on CNN news last night the spokesperson said, "You can get a mammogram at age 40 if you want....it may not be COVERED, but that's another discussion."

By the task force suggesting these guidelines, insurance companies will now look at not paying for them if you are not so critically sure you have cancer (like a lump or people in your family already being dx'd) or are age 50 or older, and then they will cover every two years.

That's the problem I have with it.

I posted the link to the topic and it ran right off the edge of the page, so I deleted it. I'll try again. Here is some of what she said. I think maybe we can calm down now.

Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius showed no leadership at all when she quickly backed away from the USPSTF recommendations. She told American women that they have nothing to learn form the science that led to the USPSTF guidelines on mammography. She seems to be suggesting that women should ignore medical evidence.
