did your final path report show larger tumor?

my biopsy report indicated an idc tumor of .2 cm.  (have dcis as well, total are 2.3 cm) was wondering if anyone's surgery revealed a larger tumor then biopsy indicated?  biopsy says i'm er/pr pos, and her2+++ so i'm wondering if surgery will reveal a larger tumor.

thanks

No, my biopsy and mastectomy surgery both found a 7mm tumor.

    I am HER2+ also.

My ultrasound and biopsy reports suggested that the IDC tumor was 2cm x 2cm, so I was considered Stage 1 initially.  The biopsy also confirmed the presence of DCIS but no size was given.  This was followed by a MRI which suggested the IDC tumor was 2 x 2.2 x 1.5cm and made no mention of DCIS.  Final pathology after my lumpectomy found that the IDC tumor was 2.1 x 2.4 x 2.1cm, and the DCIS was 6.6 x 6.3 x 2.8cm.  While their findings prior to surgery were fairly close on the tumor size, exact size wasn't determined, and I don't believe my surgeon had any idea of the extensiveness of the DCIS prior to going in.

Mammogram and ultrasound showed 2 lesions, one 2cm and the other 6mm.

Pathology report from lumpectomy showed IDC 2.1cm and 1.5cm

My biopsy showed IDC & DCIS total of less than 1 cm total (20% of the core biopsy removed  w/calc).

The pathology from my lumpectomy showed no residual tumor, no cancer at all.  All was removed w/original core biopsy.

well i got my answer lol.  final path revealed IDC the size of 3.5 cm.  bigger than even what the mri thought it was - 2.0 cm.  just goes to show there is never a perfect answer!

Never a perfect answer... My ultrasound and MRI indicated a tumor 9mm, IDC. Hiding behind it and very close to it was another 6mm tumor.  2.5 years later, same breast showed 4mm on MRI. Final path revealed another 2mm nearby. Plus, DCIS and LCIS. Sigh... BMx has hopefully put an end to all the crap. And bilateral SGAP reconstruction has enabled me to once again have perky breasts with both my butt and attitude uplifted - lol!

My pathology showed my tumor was 1 cm larger than originally thought.  I had 3 mammos, and ultrasound and breast MRI.....none of those showed what the pathology did....my breast was also full of additional DCIS that the machines did not see.   I was glad I chose a bmx.  I hope the technology for detection improves in the future!
