    Has anybody tried Maca root for boosting the sex drive?  I've been reading a lot about it lately and I'm getting tempted to try it.  I've read that it's not for breast cancer patients and also that it is fine for breast cancer patients.  Another one of those conflicting opinion things, I'm willing to give it a try though, I have to do something to feel like myself again.

    Love the Nascar joke, really funny!  And the suggestion about reading naughty stories from Hustler is a good one, reminds me of when my ex-boyfriend and I used to drive across country, and I would read to him.  By the time we got to where we were going, we'd be so wet....Awh, the good old days.  The ex is trying to come back, and I'm thinking about trying so thanks for the advice, girls...

    Hello mojo lovelies,

     Just wanted to check in to wish you all all the best and to say that 2 months post-chemo my body is definitely waking up again. I no longer need to use lubrication - with some foreplay my body has remembered what it is meant to do. I hope the same holds true for others.

    I kept having sex throughout chemo and am glad I did because even when it felt like a chore beforehand it made me feel so wonderful to still be sharing that intimacy with my BF and even when I didn't orgasm I enjoyed his. I did have some good ones though, and am having more now!

    Hey Rose, my OB gave me estrogen cream to use on the outside and it really helped, I also used the E-String internally, there was a small study that one of the women was in and her estrogen levels never went up while using it. MY BS and Onc said okay, I hope so because I am using it and it is so much better, hopefully my Arimidex will prevent any uptake.

    My onc approved my use of estring back when I needed it.  I thought I had an untreatable yeast infection and it was the dryness and I only had to use 2 of them for 6 mos and then I was "normal".

    Hi all, my gyn prescribed Vagifem in July which has been awesome. He took a baseline blood test to measure my estrogen levels, which I had repeated last week. The great news is that my estrogen levels had DECREASED so the estrogen in the Vagifem is not getting into my system.

    That's great Texas!  What specifically did it help with?  I'm having trouble with the outer areas being easily irritated , not so much the inner, thanks to the tamoxifen discharge. 

    Omahagirl, thanks for your reply, did it plump things up and bring back any sensation on the outside?

    Yesm Missy it did and the big O is beginning to feel better all the time. I wish my libido would improve, or maybe it needs to fall in lust with a new man! Oppps, hope my DH doesn't here this LOL

    I've talke about my DH not having any libido and he finally went for a physical and is going to get his testosterone checked! woo hoo!!!

    Now, to just get him to go get his bloodwork done... Undecided

    Alrighty, Barbe, it seems that there is hope yet, huh? I know that you've been able to reconcile yourself to the affection that your husband is able to give, but some additional nooky sure can't hurt Cool!

    Recently, I've been reading more and more about "hypoactive sexual desire disorder" and how it is not only receiving increasing attention among researchers, but that there are 2 drugs in the wings that are intended to, specifically, address the problem. One of these drugs, flibanserin, was intended to address depression but found to increase female desire. The other drug increases a woman's level of testosterone and, in that way, increases desire. In any event, the news is good and today's NY Times' magazine features an article about a researcher/psychologist who is testing the use of both mindfulness, in conjunction with cognitive behavioral techniques, in releasing women's libidos.     First time at this thread ,,wondered what Bump means Marie...Maybe I just not WITH IT...but!!! even though I will be 70 in Feb,,,,libido...sexual gratification very important to me....The loss of it occurred with  ..goodbye's to .1mg estrogen patch ...and then couple months later  they started  sucking  out my own leftover estrogen (produced in my body even at this age!!!) by giving me Arimidex!!! Not only the  loss of libido resulted  but I garnered a second menopause !!!! AND to think  I was hoping for a second childhood. haha! I hope to help here as I continue to disocver how to jump start this libido,,I thank a woman in the arimidex thread for guiding me here!

    I was having a problem with atrophy causing sex to be painful, so my OBGYN prescribed the Vagifem estrogen suppository to be taken twice a week, and after using it one time it's really strengthened and plumped the vaginal wall so no longer painful.  She also suggested using lubrication for sex.  So DH and I had a much better lovemaking session with the Vagifem to help matters down therehttp://www.smileycentral.com/?partner=ZSzeb001_ZNman000

    I am in the experimental stage of upgrading my libido ! MY lab...OUR bedroom. More on test results after the first of the year!!!!  ! Just wrote this in life after Arimidex thread. Some women there are interested also. Blessings to you all!

    Hello Ladies,

    Lakewoman, I was reading the Armidex group and found your statement. I have been on Arimedex since Sept. so not as long as some ladies. I asked my onco how the treatment would affect my sex drive, and her statement was " You won't have one." So much for quality of life. LIke you, my sex life has always been fantastic ( married for 38 years now) and I was not willing to give it up. We have been " working at it" with good results. My advice, practice makes perfect.  I agree with others in this group, if men suffered from this there would have been a solution years ago.

    I've been on Arimidex for almost 3 weeks.  So far no real SE.  But hopin the vagifem will help take care of "down there issues"  Lakewomen, I like your idea of your "Lab"  That;s a good one,. I think my bedroom will be the same in trying to keep up the good fight against this Chemical Castration from Arimidex.

    I just want to remind you ladies who have just begun taking Arimidex, or any AI, that everyone reacts differently and you don't necessarily need to expect atrophy or even dryness. I began Arimidex and then Aromasin 4 years ago and my sex life has been, so far, completely unaffected. So hang in there and have hope!

    I cannot take anything with hormones. I am a 3- So my gyno prescribed me cialis. It has really worked and I got my O's back. AMEN!!!!

    What is cialis ebann?  And if you are triple -, taking hormones shouldn't be a problem for you, since your cancer is not fed by hormones.  So I'm a little confused by your post.

    rfiuff, I wish that was true. Here is some information about triple negative. Also cialis is like vigara men use it but it is very affective for women in small doses. It gets the blood flow going around in the vagina, clitoris areas. It works.   

    Triple-negative breast cancer: This term is used to describe breast cancers (usually invasive ductal carcinomas) whose cells lack estrogen receptors and progesterone receptors, and do not have an excess of the HER2 protein on their surfaces.  Breast cancers with these characteristics tend to occur more often in younger women and in African-American women. Triple-negative breast cancers tend to grow and spread more quickly than most other types of breast cancer. Because the tumor cells lack these certain receptors, neither hormone therapy nor drugs that target HER2 are effective against these cancers (although chemotherapy can still be useful if needed).

    I think what Rose meant was, those of us who are ER+ can't add estrogen to our systems. Why would it be bad for someone who is ER-?

    Hormones for a triple negative stimulate cancer cells (tumor growths) I had IBC so I am considered a rish for a high recurrence rate
