I am totaly opposed to the new proposed guidelines!!!!

I am 41 years old with NO FAMILY HISTORY & just got diagnosed.  If it weren't for the my mammogram, I don't know where I would be in the near future.  I have a family & they need me in their lives for as long as possible.

Can I ask you...did you have any symptoms that led you and your doctor to get the mammogram?

    Hi Latinaone.

I don't want to ask you anything.  That would be insensitive.  I just want to say that I am so sorry to hear about your diagnosis.  You will find plenty of support on these boards.  Try the newly diagnosed thread.

I was diagnosed at 36 and my two children were four at the time.  I am five years out now and I am doing well.  Feel free to PM if you want to ask any questions or just to have a chat.  I am in Australia not the US so our health systems are different but a lot of the treatment is the same.

    Take care,

     Sandy

latinaone...I totally agree with you on that these "standard of care" should be changed back to what they were at 40, not 50.  I am glad that they were to find it before you could feel the lump.  I am 37 and I am fighting..there are many women on here who are fighting who have children..I have 2 who are 5 and under.. Go to the boards of the specific kind of cancer that you have and another great board is to visit the chemo and rads boards when you go through the treatment because there will be others on there who are going through it at the same time.

((((((((((((HUGS)))))))))))))))  I know that it is a scary time and the fact that you are unsure what will happen...it will get better once you get into treatment and you start getting in a pattern and start learning about the treatments.  The questions and the surgeries are scary, but it WILL get better!

I have anger about their new medical standards for breast examinations...I am not angry, because I already have the dreaded red "C" on my forehead...I am angry because it puts my children at risk.  Take care and PM me if you need to.  We are in this as one!
