Not only does the article say we don't need mammograms, it says self breast exams are a waste of time.............  I am outraged............ No need for mammograms under the age of 50?  So...... without self exams or mammograms what happens to all of us under 50 that find lumps or notice something "different" with our breast?  I found my lump with a self exams  If I hadn't done a self exam I would not have found the lump and my tumor will still be growing..................I think all women should know how to do a self exam to learn their breast and what feels right so that when something isn't right we can have it checked.  These new guidelines are only going to make it harder on us and potentially risk lives.

Link to article in our local newspaper regarding the task force recommendations.  My doctor was interviewed.

Something that was mentioned was about the task force recommendations affecting Medicare guidelines.

Our area is at 23.9% unemployment and one of the two poorest counties in Virginia. Many of the patients are served by Medicare and Medicaid as a result of this.

Everytime I have an appt at our Jules Hermes Breast Cancer center, over half the women in the waiting room are under 50.

IF the new guidelines affect Medicare and Medicaid ... how many young women in my area alone will be adversely affected by this?
