Easy to Read bible?

Can anyone tell me if there is a Bible written in modern English as I am finding it hard going and hard to understand? As I am new to this and have found God through my recently diagnosed Breast cancer I need all the help I can get

I absolutely love the New Living Translation.

Some Children's Bibles are easy to read and have pictures. The main "stories" can be read TO children also.

I use NIV and really like it.

I like the New American Standard version (NAS). it is written more in everyday English and a closer translation from the original Hebrew and Greek than some other translations - not a translation from a translation.
