I had a complete hyst with ovaries out in May and I am also er+. I did not have any more issues with that than when I was in chemopause. I was completely premenopausal before my hyst and chemo. I am not taking anything. The only thing that I notice is that I do need to get some lubrication for dh and I, but it is not extreme. Hot flashes are not very bad (and it is winter now, so that helps).

Hi, your ovaries have likely shut down as far as estrogen production but we do produce it in our fat and brains, so you will have some floating around to "keep it all going". Are you being placed on tamox or AI to block ALL estrogen absorption?
If so, you could experience some of the menopausal symptoms, but not every one does.

It's been over a year since my ooph/hyster. I really don't have any issues because of it.

What are your reasons for this surgery? What meds are you taking? These are questions I'd need ans. to before an opinon.
You are doing the right thing to think about this and get input from others. Good for you.

Ok, I was diagnosed at 59, long past menapause. My doc, who knows me well and is also a surgeon, told me my ovaries had likely shrivled up to almost nothing as I was worried, like you about the estrogen possibilities. I had a lap gallbladder after diagnisis and was asking about removing the ovariess, too. He didn't think it was necessary. I had already had my uterus removed years before.
Tamox is supposed to increase risk of uterine cance, that's why I asked. So, I could see your point about uterus removal. I would be suprised if your ovaries are producing very much estrogen at all---that's what menapause is all about, the ovaries shut down producing eggs and estrogen and the uterus stops making a lining(your period) to grow the fertalized eggs.
I''m unsure if arimidex has a risk for either of them. And don't know what plaquanal is, so cannot say.
If it were me, I would discuss elective surgery with my oncologist and determine the actual risk factors fo me to keep or take the organs out. After I've had so much surgery, I'm just not one to get in line for an elective one. but of course, it's up to you and Your needs, not mine.
