DIEP in Montreal
Hello Ladies,
I will be having surgery to remove my BC in the next little while. Sadly it will be a MMX since it is a large ILC and I am small breasted. I am however considering the Bilat verses single. Part of my questioning is the reconstrcution after and I have not heard much about plastic surgery in Montreal.
Does anyone know if DIEP are done routinely and by whom? I am not even sure yet about flap vs implant and I am thinking this could have a bearing on my choice of MMX vs BMX.
Thank you all for your feedback,
Yo

Dr.Schwarz at the Montreal General Hospital is fantastic. Call him. You can not go wrong.
There is also Dr. Dianisopoulis at the Jewish General Hospital. He is supposed to be good too, just not for me.
Good Luck!

Hello Kerkle,
Thanks for your response. I just heard of Dr. S but you are the first personal ref. I saw Dr. D and have decided to go the implant route after all. My BMX surgery is this Tuesday with immediate TE placement. Hopefully if I need radiation I will not have problems later. I was comfortable with Dr. D and heard many good things about him. So now I just have to get the surgery over with. Oh boy!
Best wishes and have a good weekend!

Hello YoYo44,
I am so happy to have found your post as I too may be facing the possibility of a BMX . I am still waiting for my final pathology report further to my lumpectomy on Nov. 9 and am preparing psychologically for a BMX . I had hodgkins disease in 1997 and since I received radiation to the chest I am at high risk for developping breast cancer and I may not be able to get more radiation so a BMX may be one of my options. I am praying that all went well with your surgery today and wishing you a quick and speedy recovery. I would love to hear from you once you have recovered so please keep me posted.
Good luck and all the best to you!

Hello,
I am also a doctor Schwarz patient in Montral and I created a new web site with a lot of practical resources here in the city. I am talking about my own experience abour breast reconstruction but also about doctors, hospitals, complementary resources and products we can use after a breast cancer. It is a non profit site and there is a blog where we can discuss about our interests here in our own area.
You are most welcome!
The site is in French
