Breast pain - peri-menopausal or more?

For those of you who are pre-menopausal, if you have breast pain do you think it is something associated with peri-menopause or something more??  I had diagnosis of DCIS in left breast in July '08 with excisional biopsy getting all of the 1.6mm of DCIS out and had no further treatment.  Since May of '09 I have felt what I can only describe as slight 'pulling' sensation in that breast.  When I had a mamm in June, I mentioned this to technician and wondered if it was due to scar tissue or what??  The June mamm did not have anything alarming indicated, but I continue to feel that 'pull' off and on and also have some pain at times in the left breast.

Has anyone had pain after excisional biopsy this far out (well over a year now and pain did not start really until about 9 months AFTER biopsy)?  I finally went in to see me primary care physician this week.  The pain I feel is somewhat cyclical and is worse prior to my periods.  I just can't decide if it is just a peri-menopausal symptom or something more to worry about.  Primary doc did exam of my breasts and didn't think he felt anything or saw and indentations, etc. that would indicate a problem.  He is going to review charts from breast surgeon I saw who did my excisional last year and get back with me.  I asked him if he thought I needed another mamm (just had one five months ago in June) or if he thought I should have another MRI to check things out (had one in Feb '09).  I DO kind of think he will set me up with some sort of follow up testing, but I am just wondering if anyone else has experienced anything similar as far as feeling some sort of pain so long after a biopsy.

Not to scare you, but this is how I've got to the dr. - because my breasts were more and more sore before my periods and I had a slight pain in one of them (no previous biopsy though). The previous mammogram didn't show a thing, the one after that did. Ultrasound didn't show a thing either, MRI pinpointed it.

I would go with scar tissue or perhaps a little cyst, too small to feel, that is interacting with the scar.

Peri-menopause is a time of wildly flucuating hormones and it is normal to have breast swelling, sensation.

Are you taking tamoxifen? That is an excellent drug for reducing the tendecny of breast tissue to react to hormonal flucuations. It would be a two-fer because you could reduce your discomfort and protect against future DCIS. Why undergo all this expensive testing that doesn't give you definitive results when you can take a cheap drug that offers protection?
