    Thanks, Patoo

I know that God is blessing me. It is difficult at times to trust, as I can't see into the future. But I know it is in his hands, and he gave me Tom to be by my side.

The CT scan today will show the state of my liver, and whether I am improving on this treatment or not. Pray that I keep my mind of the results and seek God's face so that I can rest tonight.

    Bette

I have been reading your caring bridges page.  Stay  strong, and keep your strong faith in god.  I'm sending you prayers and hugs!  Your Tom is an amazing person, as well.  You both are very lucky to have each other.  God will carry you through this.  God bless you and Tom.

How are you today Bette?  My prayer is that you have been able to leave your cares and fears on the altar of God and experience some peace.  God is still in the blessing business.

    Hay Bette

How are you doing?  Have not heard from you too much.  I hope the headaches are better.

A brain MRI just turned out clear, so no brain mets, but also no answers on the headaches.

My liver enzymes have returned to normal, so I am once more able to get chemo, AND on the experimental PARP Inhibitor arm of the trial as my tumors grew on the control meds.

I was in the ER last night with a high fever. Was released on antibiotics. It made me nervous to be there as there were a lot of people with swine flu..

I am trusting in God for the relief of my headaches, and praising Him for delivering me from the fever and flu.

Bette - Have been following your journey through Caring Bridge. Am so sorry for all the pain you are going through with your headaches. I was very relieved to read your test results. I know I haven't been here in a while, life has gotten busy with two teens and school in full swing again. But even though I haven't been here, you have been in my thoughts.....hope they are able to find something to give you some relief....

Caroline, I am hoping to start chemo again next week. Waiting for phone call with our schedule.

Bethaib, Thanks for following my story and caring. We are still waiting for an appointment to check on my headaches.. Today is not so bad. Still some pain, but I am upright and able to type!

    To my breast friends,

I got unwelcome news from the oncologist today. Skull and spine mets causing my pain, fevers may be from tumor growth. Another MRI, monthly Zometa and perhaps radiation to the spine in my immediate future. I should start feeling better as the tumors are treated. Still waiting on chemo schedule for the PARP inhibitor branch of the trial.

Pray for God to grant me grace to get through the pain until the chemo and Zometa start to work.

Oh no Bette, how horrible! I really don't know what to say. Cancer is just a horrible disease. I hope they can get the tumors to shrink quickly and relieve you from the pain.

Bette-I am so sorry to hear of your unfortunate news. I will be praying for you and Tom.  If anyone deserves a break from all this cancer stuff, it is you. You have had more than your fair share of crap. Bless you, dear!

The spine MRI was incredibly painful, both in the noise surrounding my headache, and in keeping still for 45 minutes with what turned out to be cancer at levels T9 and T12 and a small compression fracture at T9. The radiation oncologist said they can do rads for 10 treatments to reduce the pain on the spine, but that the procedure of radiating the skull would involve radiating a lot of soft tissue and scary SE's. The docs have to discuss the timing of the rads, before, during or after chemo, and then we will have to make a decision.

Tomorrow at 6 AM we leave for VA to start Cycle 3 of the clinical trial. I will start Zometa then as well. Then on Tuesday we go back there to get the PARP inhibitor, BSI-201.

Tom has been very sweet today and is teaching me the safe use of my new wheelchair. I could not have navigated the hospital today without it.

    Just an update on Bette-

From Tom:  Bette is still in the hospital, pain in her right foot and heel due to a fracture caused by the cancer in the bone. Docs are looking to radiate her heel along with her spine to reduce her pain. If pain can be controlled and bloodwork is satisfactory she might be able to go home on Monday on oral pain meds. She's been on a pain pump for her spine and has had her spine radiated.

It may be a while till she is up for that ice cream party, but I am hoping she is able to go home tomorrow and that she's finally gotten sufficient relief from the pain.

    We'll be waiting Bette......

Update:   Bette is back in the hospital being treated for flu symptoms/possible pneumonia. Tom said she may be home Tuesday or Wed. Let's hope for the best! Bette has gone through so much lately, poor woman, I'm sure she would rather be home again....
