NED with Xeloda
I just left my Dr. Office and after 11 weeks of Xeloda I am now NED. My Dr. had to read it twice because he could not believe it. He was going to start me on Avastin but instead It showed no NED. I had mets to my hips, pelvis, back shoulder and liver. It has been allost 2 years since I have not seen mets on my pet scan. I still cannot believe it. The power of prayer works. I have read of others having NED but never thought it would be me.
Give God all the Glory

Donna,
That is such great news for you. It makes me hopeful, because I just started my second cycle of Xeloda + Avastin and Zometa.
I am wondering, Did you have this great success after just 11 weeks, or is it 11 cycles? Any way it is, fantastic!

Xeloda (and Tykerb) are kicking butt for me, too. I, too, am now NED. I have had 2 clean PET/CT scans. I have been on Xeloda and Tykerb for 18 weeks (six 3-week cycles for the Xeloda although the Tykerb is every single day). I am taking 2 (or maybe 3) more cycles and then having mastectomy. (Will stay on Tykerb indefinitely.) After previously taking Adriamycin, Cytoxin, Taxol and Herceptin and also having radiation for my initial dx of IDC and then having IBC start in the midst of all that!!!!!! --- I am grateful for finally finding some chemo that has made a difference for me. (I've been on chemo non-stop for 18 months and finally NED.) Now, we just gotta stay that way!!! Those of you who posted that you were just getting ready to begin with Xeloda --- I wish you good results with it as well.
Congrats, Donna. And, yes, give God all the glory.

Hello everyone,
Thanks so much for all the encouraging words. I hope this news brings many of you hopefull that are taking Xeloda. Kirby I took Xeloda for 6 cycles dr. took me off for h/f for 2 weeks that is why it was only 11 weeks not 12. I took 3300 a day. The only side effect I had was h/f. I worked every day. I bought cotton gloves and wore cotton socks and slippers to work. I took doxil for 3 months and had progression. I did one treatment of taxetere and avastin and went in hospital for 10 days very sick. I have watched many of you get goods news but never thought it would be me. Thank you all for giving me hope. I pray that meny of you get great news.Donna

GREAT NEWS!
Can I ask what your onc's next step is - will you continue on Xeloda?
(I'm also on it, and onc has told me indefinitely....oh and can you squeeze one more NED in your Xeloda group? - my scans are next week)
-
FANTASTIC news!!! And very encouraging as I just started Xeloda myself on Nov 1st. Thank you so much for sharing.

Great news! Congratulations!
I just finished my 3rd cycle of Xeloda. I'm due for scans soon so I hope to celebrate with you. God be praised!

Come on all you Xeloda girls, show us the way, we all need NED. Maryiz
Great news, Donna.
-
respin,
I wanted to continue taking Xeloda but dr. said no. He said the pet scan showed ned so no cemo. In 3 months I will have a pet scan and if it has come back I can always go back to Xeloda. He does not want my cancer to get immuned to the drug. He believes it will come back slow and we can try and get ahead of it.

Wonderful news, Donna!
I am in Xeloda/Tykerb cycle #7 (doing 2500/day)..had a scan and am doing well with Xeloda, too. My doctor added in Navelbine to help me along with the skin mets (they are hard to treat)...I will get a couple more cycles of Xeloda in before my next PET on December 22. I am hoping for a NED announcement, too! My tumor marker (ca27.29) is down over 100 pts to the 90's. Xeloda is a great drug if you can deal with the hand/foot. Keep that good news coming!!!!!
-
Dear NED, please come visit me. We can date forever. You can even have as many affairs as you want. You are much revered. Maryiz

I LOVE NED!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Happy Dance!
