Here are the arrangements for anyone who was needing them.

Visitation is at Keehn Funeral Home in Brighton tomorrow from 2:00 - 9:00 pm with the Rosary beginning at 7:00 pm.

Mass will be Monday at 11:00 am at St. Joseph Church in Howell.

Florist there is Four Seasons Florist.

I spoke with Neesie for awhile earlier and she is holding up.  She knows that everyone is with her and she appreciates that.  We also talked about how when all is over the reality of this all will set in and I let her know that we will always be here for her.

    Hugs

My surgeon will be Dr. Chang, Chief Director of Surgical Oncology. I am nervous about having to wait so long to get on his schedule. I have to wait until November 11. What type of surgery did you have done? I am seriously considering calling tomorrow to see if I can have bilateral rather than the unilateral that I initially agreed to. Just as others have said, I am scared of having to go through this again on the other breast which appears to be healthy at this time. Another fear is that all mammograms and ultrasound never saw my DCIS or my invasive ductal carcinoma on the left. What caught it was the six-core biopsy that I requested to have done. I also wonder how this whole lop-sided issue will go as I have large breasts (D cup). It seems to me it will be a pain in the butt.  I dread having to think about this from now on, you know - the "what if."

Leslie - if you don't feel comfortable, then call. The last thing you need is to spend these weeks agonizing over whether you should be doing something else. You may not talk to the oncologist again, but it's likely they have a nurse or an oncology social worker who can help you define your questions and get good answers.

You will be told that your tumor has likely been growing undetected for years, and a few weeks one way or another won't make any difference. I tried to believe that, and I'm sure it's true, but it didn't make the wait any better.

So sorry you have to do this!

Leslie- Dr Chang was my surgeon! He did a great job, and I am told Ihave a good scar. I only had a lumpectomy though. I was told having to wait was not "medically urgent", even though it was "psychologically urgent". sigh

Denise- I am so sorry I was unbable to attend the visitation or services for Fred. (((hugs)).

Ladies- when I get a chance I will post a picture of what the flowers were supposed to be- I ordered an entire pink arrangement and was disappointed in the choice they sent (they ewere beautiful, just not what Ihad ordered). I spoke with my florist and they called the florist who created the arrangement. They apologized, but would do nothing $$ wise. Apparently when I said "flower substitutions ok, just make sure pink", that somehow got changed to "flower substitutions ok". bummer.

I will try to get back on soon. Family and overtime have kept me very busy and very tired lately.

ConnieSue, deepest sympathy and prayers for you.

I had my surgery at UM. Waiting will not put you at risk. Trust me on this. Where you choose to have one or both done. The folks at the U will help you. Call the clinic nurse, She will provide you with information and support. anne26

Anne26 - I am going to U of M this Friday for my pre-op workup. Decision has been made and approved by insurance - bilateral mastectomy will be done next Tuesday, November 10.

Rockysmom - I do hope Dr. Chang is a wonderful surgeon and that I am in good hands! How are you doing since your surgery?

Rosemary-b - Sorry I did not get back to you in time to respond a couple of weeks ago. Lots of things going on at the same time.  At this point it looks like this might be something I do after my surgery on November 10. If I do go, I will let you know.

Hope you ladies are all doing well. How many days until spring? Kiss I HATE winter.

Hi I am thinking about having my revisions done in Dec. and thinking about giving myself a Christmas gift of some lipo.  My revisions from my DIEP won't be much but I thought I would take advantage of the situation.  Has anyone in the area had lipo? My PS is willing to do it but told me that she has had a hard time getting BCBS to cover it even if it connected to reconstruction.  Has anyone had any success in this area?

Leslie, best of luck and speedy recovery

I'm just now learning about this site and found this thread.  I'm from Michigan, too, and am being treated at U of M.  Had a lumpectomy on Oct. 24 and begin chemo on Tuesday.     I don't know why, but it's comforting to "know" others from my area.

Welcome to Sue and Dianne.........sorry you had to find us and hoping treatments are going well.

Where is everyone????????  Did you all leave the state and forget to tell me?   I can threaten to call Nancy and Irene, that usually gets them on here (the threat not the call!)

    Hugs,

    Hello Dear Michigan Sisters!

It has been a long time since I've checked in.  Sorry about that.  Have been tremendously busy with Komen stuff.  When is the next gathering.  One of these days I truly promise to come.  I would love to meet you.  Sounds like a lot has been going on with some of you.  Hugs and prayers, Linda

Hi Everyone!   I know, I know - it takes a phone call threat to get me to reply.

Neesie - thinking of you and wouldn't go anywhere without telling YOU!  Call me anytime, I'll bite the bullet and talk on the phone.  If you have pictures you want me to post, just email them to me.  I'm not sure I still have the one of the flowers though.

I came back to read and catch up and saw Geeta's passing.  Another sucker punch for us oldies.

Sue - got your email about DH and I'm crossing everything for him.  I'm glad the surgery is over and hope each day brings him closer to being on the mend.  You gave me a chuckle about the young doctors.  I call them the "Doogies".  My GP is a Doogie but he's a good one.  (Doogie Houser, remember?)

Hello everyone from Michigan and those I haven't met yet.  I hope we meet soon (Linda - promises, promises).  So many new names.  xxxooo sorry you had to join us but welcome.

I had a major scare and was sure the beast was back.  My emotions have been off the scale. One minute looking for a new wife for my poor helpless DH and the next pissed-off at him about the state of our house and how I'm not fixing it up for the next wife.  You get the idea, right?

Nothing showed up on a mammogram or an ultrasound and they were giving me the old story that nothing was there.  I felt something hard and well-defined.  So, are you ready for this?  I was telling myself the same thing I told the newbies, the only good lump is in a jar.  It turns out it was the valve to my implant!  Har har.  I lost a little weight and swelling went down so it a nice hard piece of plastic.

So, I feel I got a few good years again and I'm in a better place and ready to get the Holidays over with (I'm not a fan).   So, I hope everyone is doing good and eat enough for a turkey coma.  Ok, I do like to eat so the Holidays aren't all that bad I guess.

    xxxooo

    Nancy

Hi everyone!  Sorry to hear about your scare Nancy and I am glad that it was just plastic.  Just plastic.  There is that word again...plastic.

I on the other hand, love the holidays and already have the house decorated.  We are usually the first in the neighborhood to put the lights out.  Everything but the tree is ready to go.  Of course, we are heading out on a two week vacation this afternoon, so I won't be back until we are well in the season.

I would suggest a get together, but know how busy everyone's schedules get at this time.  But I am good either way, before xmas or in January.  What do you think?

I feel very fortunate in this breast cancer battle in that I only had to have two lumpectomies for DCIS, radiation and Tamox for 5 years.  Are any of you on Effexor?  My onc gave me a script about a month ago that I just got filled.  Haven't started taking it yet.  It is supposed to have pretty good success reducing the hot flashes from tamox.  They wake me up at night so I rarely get a good nights sleep but I sure hate to start another drug.  Hope everyone has a great Thanskgiving.  I know I am thankful this year.

Peg...I had similar tx, two lumpectomies, radiation, and Tamoxifen.  I only tolerated the Tamoxifen for about 15 months, and then went cold turkey (get it, ha, ha).  I was lucky with tx.

I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving.  I am upnorth at my parents place and we are doing Thanskgiving today.  My brother could not make it up until last night, so we decorated their house yesterday.  Decades of decorations gathered from their 51 years of marriage, it took all day.  But it looks great.
