Sorry for the switcheroo, but I got tired of seeing that user name every time I posted! My new user name is because 1) I'm a crunchy "organic food" type (at least, now that I have bc), and 2) although I'm not blessed to be the mother of human children (yet?), I have adorable Standard Poodles who keep me laughing all day long.

So, girls, SuperScared is no more!

Also - my given name is Julia. I put Julie in my signature because that's what my parents and childhood friends call me (except for one who, annoyingly, calls me Ju-Ju but let's not go there! Tongue out). I think I'm going to change it back to Julia because it's weird having people address me by my childhood nickname.

Guess I should have thought all this out a little better when I first signed up and posted that first terrified post! Tongue out Thanks for bearing with me and to my fellow "nature girls" who are so sweet, sympathetic, and generally wonderful. Smile

Ooh, aren't they wonderful? What color/gender is yours? We actually have three... two boy puppies, a black one and a white one, and a 7-year-old girl. I'm convinced they are geniuses and they are so goofy and hilarious!

    Love the new name!

But I have to disagree!  I do think standard poodles are fun and highly intelligent, but I have the greatest little French Bulldog known to mankind!  I also have an English Mastiff who is the sweetest, but most timid, dog in the world.  Fabio (the FB) runs her like a Marine Sergeant.

We should start a thread where we just talk about our furry friends.  It always makes me laugh.

Meg, that's the best kind of re-cycling.

Just jumping in because I love poodles.  We used to have German Shepherd dogs, but after the last one died, I decided I wanted no more shedding.  Did some research and thought about labradoodles or goldendoodles - then concluded that since they were all mated and then mated again with poodles, that a standard poodle would be perfect.  Had to talk my DH into it.  He thought they all had to look fru-fru. Molly is the sweetest dog - very easy temperament - goofy - loves people.  She's our "omega" dog (as opposed to the alpha variety).

Oh Laura, they sound wonderful!! I want to see photos! Good idea to have a thread about our fur friends!

Meg, yours sound so sweet... I agree, that's the best kind of recycling! I'd love to see photos of yours, too!

Jeanne, oh my gosh, I am freaking out at your avatar! That's Molly? She is beautiful!! She looks SO much like my Dixon!!

I had thought poodles were all fru-fru too... in fact I wasn't even really familiar with Standards until I met my husband. He is a 6'4" manly-man, and I nearly died when he told me on our first date that he likes poodles. I just couldn't picture that! (until I met his parents' VERY manly-man Standard Poodle who I'm convinced could beat anyone up if he had wanted to!!) Laughing

Oh that is too funny... my pups do stuff like that too... hurl insults at the neighbor dogs etc.! And yep, standards were bred as hunting/working dogs. I can really see that in how they play... they're so attentive and focused when they're "stalking" a squirrel or something!

Oh girls, I'm so envious that you have standards. I have always wanted one but could never afford one. I groomed dogs for about twenty years. I feel in love with them. Currently I have a lab (she is the best dog in the world!!!) a cairn terrier and a silky terrier. They are tons of fun and they are a great comfort to me. I have a parakeet also!!!!

    Molly is absolutely gorgeous!!!!!

From one dog lover to another!!!!!!

And here I thought I had the greatest dog in the world!! Flat Coat Retreiver and brilliant. Everyone she meets comments on her great behavior. She sheds like crazy and I have her shaved twice a year, bu that is her only draw back. She was recycled too. Got her from a rescue. Now if I can only talk my DH into getting another one.

PauldingMom - I'm so sorry you thought you had the greatest dog in the world but my lab, Glory, has had that spot for 5 years. She is so great that she doesn't even shed (I'm a liar, lol). I saved her from a life stuck in a kennel. I do believe the rescue dogs have a greater appreciation for us and they will show it the rest of there lives. I will bet you retriever looks hilarious shaved!!!! I remember doing that for customers with dogs like that!!!!! The dogs always seemed to be embarrassed when shaved.

    P.S. Love your head!!!!!

crunchypoodlemama is fantastic name! I am a cat person, but I have a special fondness for my furry "nephew" , whom we call a malta-poopoo- offspring of a poodle and a maltese-poodle mix. he's so soft and lovable.
