Glad I found this site!!!! You all are more interesting than any "Book Club' I have attended. I am in a rut right now with my reading. Can't seem to find anything worthwhile. But you have inspired me. I am going to get some of what you all just recently recommended!

I am now reading Firefly Lane by Kristin Hannah--almost done. About two women and their friendship that spans most of their lives. Set in the Seattle, WA area.
I just finished No One Tells Everything by Rae Meadows. Really good. A woman living in Brooklyn trying to find herself and work through issues from her past. Set in NY and Cleveland, Ohio.

I loved reading this thread. I didn't know AlaskaDeb but I have read many of her posts and those of her friends that love and miss her. Keeping this thread going is a great way to honor what she loved.
Currently reading, Pretty Is What Changes by Jessica Queller, about a woman in her 30s facing the decision to remove her breasts and genetic testing. My next choice will be much lighter........

Do do I.
I've read a ton of books lately, but can only remember a few.
1. Dust and Shadow - Lyndsay Faye - Fiction: Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson work on the Jack the Ripper case. Very good.
2. In the Shadow of Gotham - Stefanie Pintoff - Fiction: Set in NYC in the early 1900's, murder mystery. Again, very good read.
3. Change in Altitude - Anita Shreve - Fiction: Set in Africa in the 70's (I presume due to certain products and statements made); examines relationships between couples and the relationship of marriage with a backdrop of Africa's good and bad sides. Very good.

Hi Readers.
I've read a few books as of late:
The Neighbor by Lisa Gardner: Fiction, mystery/suspense. Set in Boston. Interesting characters and good story line. Highly recommend.
The Fixer Upper by Mary Kay Andrews: Fiction, chick lit type of book. Set in Washington DC and a small town in Georgia. Pretty good. A fun, easy read.
Cemetery Dance by Douglas Preston and Lincoln Child: Fiction, set in NYC. Mystery with Agent Pendergast. Very good. Highly recommended.

I highly recommend the book A Place Called Wiregrass by Michael Morris. A delightful and well-written book, it literally moved me to tears in the end.

Anyone like Wally Lamb? He wrote "She's come undone" several yrs ago and I just re read it.
He also wrote "I know this much is true" afew yrs ago.......great author but LONG books. I bought "the hour I first believed" (another long involved story) and when I finished it, I had a routine mammo and you know how that goes.........
I adore David Sedaris.
Just read a new book called "Olive Kitteridge" by Elizabeth Strout. Fab book
And the Story of Edgar Sawtelle..........you gotta love dogs to sift thru that one, but I loved it.

I got Breast Cancer Husband by Marc Silver for my husband. He has started it and says it is helping him to understand what I am dealing with.

I just finished a great book. Non fiction and about the exploitation of a particular woman and her family . It raises really interesting thoughts about DNA and who owns our cells. I was totally absorbed all the way to the end.
The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks by Rebecca Skloot
