reaction to taxol and taxotere

Has anybody had a reaction to both taxol and taxotere? what other treatment did you receive?  I have had a reaction to both after getting ACx4 were the tumor shink but now i have swelling of the breast and arm with pain.  Any input?

    Has your doctor said anything about Abraxane?  It's a different formulation of Taxol that doesn't cause the severe allergic reaction that Taxol sometimes does.  Many women who can't use Taxol/Taxotere do fine on Abraxane.

    I had a severe allergic reaction to taxotere, but was able to tolerate it after being pre-medicated with steroids and benedryl.  They also dripped the taxotere very slowly (about 6 hours vs. 2-3) so that I could take it.

    I had a horrible reaction to taxotere.  When I went on chemo again, my onc put me on Abraxane instead.  It's also part of the taxane family.  No premeds necessary, no adverse reaction.  Best wishes.

    I went into anaphalctic shock within 30 seconds when I took taxatere for the second time.  It was scary to say the least.  They start out with people taking taxotere because it is a lot cheaper than abraxane..although it is right that people tolerate abraxane better.

    I was one of the really weird people.   I was able to have the abraxane administered without any problems...No rashes, breathing problems..nothing.  After about 12 hours after getting the chemo I noticed my scalp getting red and itchy and it moved to my eyebrows.  I didn't think much about it and thought that it may have been a reaction to something that was outside (I went for a walk earlier in the evening)..Took a luke warm shower and by the time that I got out I was red and itching from head to toe (the palms of my hands and bottoms of my feet were on fire!)!  Called the Onc on call and she agreed that it was indeed another allergic reaction to it.  Well, I asked the onc if they would give me an epi-pen just in case something really bad happens..he agreed that it was a good idea..but I still continued to have abraxane given and just took benadryl to deal with the reactions...I am sure that I probably OD'ed a little on the benadryl, but not too bad..just makes you wired.  The Onc looked at it this way..anyway to get the meds into you.
